Last 20th and 21st of November, I had the great opportunity to represent Metarina alongside our CEO, Henry Hooper, at METSTRADE in Amsterdam. During the event, we connected with other disruptive players in the marine industry, all focused on raising the standards for marina management and customer experiences. Some of the innovative companies we had the chance to meet include CloudEnegry, BoatOn, and Mustaa. One of my key takeaways from the the Young Leaders Panel is that it’s an exciting time for entrepreneurship in the marine industry for three reasons: 1- The market is growing fast. 2- There’s a lot of investment flowing into the space. 3- Innovation is still catching up, which leaves plenty of room for fresh ideas. I’m excited to keep meeting new people, exchanging ideas, and seeing how we can work together to make an impact in this passionate industry.

🎉 Last week, we had an incredible time hosting our German teammates! Stefanos Ntovas flew in from Hanover, Leon Entrup from Berlin, and we kicked things off with Eduard Compte Carles taking Stefanos Ntovas out for Catalan food in Gràcia. It was the first time they’d met in person, making the moment even more special! The next morning, the whole team gathered at the office, where Pol Aviñó Chen kindly brought breakfast so we all had something delicious to dig into before diving into work. We had some epic team dinners too—on Wednesday, Henry Hooper hosted us at his place, where Christian Sponza whipped up an authentic Italian carbonara. Guanciale, pecorino, the works… it was amazing! On Thursday, Pol Aviñó Chen, organized some fantastic team-building activities. Each team member shared three memorable moments from their Metarina journey, creating a collective timeline of our growth and experiences. We also took time to write positive notes about each other, reflecting on questions like: What inspires you about this person? What strengths do they bring to the team? How have they influenced your own journey? These reflections added a meaningful touch, allowing us to recognize and appreciate each other’s unique contributions. The week flew by, and on Friday, we said goodbye as Stefanos Ntovas headed back to Hanover. Last night, our Business Development Manager, Agustín Black, enjoyed a great evening at the Dinner Smart Ports: Piers of the Future 2024 at the stunning Museu Marítim de Barcelona. This dinner was part of the larger Tomorrow.Blue Economy World Congress. As Agustín Black shared with the team today: “The bites of delicious seitons en vinagre and xoricets al vi were a great way to connect with key industry leaders and engage in conversations with venture advisors and accelerators.” He especially highlighted his chat with the team of Braid Theory from the Port of Los Angeles.
