𝗦𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲: 𝗙𝗜𝗙𝗔 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝗯 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗖𝘂𝗽 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 𝗱𝗿𝗮𝘄 𝗼𝗻 𝟱 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰! Following our previous post in which we published FIFA’s announcement regarding the FIFA Club World Cup 2025, we bring you new updates. FIFA has announced the date for the draw of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025: 5 December 2024. The draw will be broadcast live via FIFA.com, FIFA+ and other supporting channels and it will kick off at 19:00 CET. All 32 qualified clubs will be known on the draw’s date, since 31 clubs are already qualified, and the last spot is reserved for the winner of CONMEBOL Copa Libertadores final, to be held on 30 November 2024. Furthermore, FIFA has also published the Regulations for the FIFA Club World Cup 2025, which are available at https://lnkd.in/dpJhFZ6J, in which are included, among others, the Disciplinary matters and procedures in Section II. It is worth noting that the new FIFA Club World Cup 2025 affects the usual FIFA regulation due to the dates on which the competition takes place, and therefore, FIFA has published on 4 November 2024 Circular no. 1905, which summarises amendments to the FIFA RSTP (art. 6.3, 5.4., and art. 1 of Annex 1 has been modified) introduced by the FIFA Council at its meeting on 3 October 2024. These provisions allow the Regulations for the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 to establish further exceptions concerning the registration of players, registration periods and the release of players to associations teams. The FIFA Circular no. 1905 is available at https://lnkd.in/dhmAjxgr. 𝗪𝗔𝗗𝗔 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗮 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗲-𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻𝗹𝗼𝗮𝗱𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲𝘀 World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) announced two additions to its Anti-Doping Educations and Learning (ADEL) platform consisting in an on-line course and several downloadable resources aimed at youth athletes between the ages of 11 to 15 years old to introduce the concept of clean sport and to teach the fundamentals of their rights and obligations in relation with the fight against doping in sports. The downloadable materials include information about i) Testing Procedure, ii) Prohibited List, iii) Supplements, and iv) the importance of speaking up in challenging situations. These new materials are available in English, French and Spanish through the ADEL platform. Anti-Doping Organizations (ADOs) interested in having the materials translated to other languages can contact ADEL Helpdesk. With these addition, WADA considers that its education programs now cover all the pathway of athletes, "from playground to podium”. An added value of the downloadable materials is that they make possible for your athletes, their parents or legal guardians, athlete-support personnel, and ADOS, who may not have full-time internet access to have access to relevant information and keep it offline, making learning possible at any time and anywhere. In an era when easy access to information can make a defining impact on an athlete's career and on their life beyond sports, at Muñoz & Arias Sports Lawyers we encourage you to share your thoughts on the latest additions WADA has made to their platform. 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗨𝗘𝗙𝗔 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝗯 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 The recent UEFA Circular No. 54/2024 dated 7 October 2024 inter-alia highlights a vital amendment that has been made to Article 5.01 of the UEFA club competition regulations. Article 5.01 of the said regulations lays down the rules against multi-club ownership. In essence, this article prohibits one party from controlling or exercising decisive influence in the decision-making of more than one club participating in the same UEFA club competition. Some noteworthy takeaways from the circular are as follows: - A club must now prove that as at 1 March preceding the competition season that multi-club ownership criteria are met. Furthermore, a club must comply with the multi-ownership criteria from such date until the end of the competition season. - This amendment shall apply to Article 5.01 of the 2025/2026 regulations of the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, UEFA Conference League. - The said amendment approved by the UEFA Executive Committee now brings the assessment date forward to 1 March.(Previously for the 2024/25 season, the assessment date for the men's club competition was 3 June 2024 and on the other hand the date for women's club competitions was 1 July.) - The new assessment date will be included in the 2025/26 Uefa club competition regulations that will be submitted for approval at a later date. 𝗙𝗜𝗙𝗣𝗥𝗢, 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲’𝘀 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗴𝘂𝗲𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝗮𝗟𝗶𝗴𝗮 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗔𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁 𝗙𝗜𝗙𝗔 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿 FIFPRO Europe, alongside Europe’s Leagues and LALIGA, has lodged a formal complaint with the European Commission regarding FIFA’s management of the international match calendar. This action raises significant issues concerning FIFA's dual role as both the governing authority and organizer of competitions. Key points of the complaint include: -𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙨 𝘼𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙋𝙡𝙖𝙮𝙚𝙧 𝙒𝙚𝙡𝙡-𝙗𝙚𝙞𝙣𝙜: The complaint addresses how the current oversaturated international football calendar poses risks to player safety and well-being, potentially affecting their career longevity. -𝙄𝙢𝙥𝙖𝙘𝙩 𝙤𝙣 𝙉𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙚𝙩𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨: It raises alarms about the economic and social sustainability of national competitions, which have historically held significant cultural value for fans across Europe and beyond. -𝙇𝙚𝙜𝙖𝙡 𝙁𝙧𝙖𝙢𝙚𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠: The complaint argues that FIFA’s actions may violate European Union competition law, particularly in light of recent EU court rulings. It asserts that FIFA must ensure transparency, objectivity, and fairness in its regulatory functions, especially concerning the international match calendar. This situation presents an important opportunity for dialogue about governance in sports and the balance of interests among stakeholders in football. The outcome may influence future practices within the sport. #MuñozAriasSportsLawyers #sportslawyers #FIFPRO

𝗙𝗜𝗙𝗔 𝘁𝗼 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗴𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘂𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗹𝗲 𝟭𝟳 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝘂𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗶𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗮 𝗿𝘂𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 FIFA will open a global dialogue on the transfer system, involving key stakeholders, to adapt article 17 of the Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players (RSTP). This announcement follows on from the decision of the Court of Justice of the European Union on the 𝘋𝘪𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘢 𝘤𝘢𝘴𝘦 and is in line with FIFA’s strategic objective to further improve the transfer system, on which significant progress has been made since 2016. In the coming days, FIFA will formally invite stakeholders to comment on and propose ideas in relation to article 17 of the RSTP ('Consequences of terminating a contract without just cause') with a view to consolidating the proposals and identifying the best way forward. “FIFA looks forward to developing its regulatory framework further, obviously taking into account views and input from all relevant and affected parties,” said FIFA Chief Legal & Compliance Officer Emilio García Silvero. “FIFA sees the Diarra decision as an opportunity to keep modernising its regulatory framework, which has been one of the declared objectives of the FIFA President since 2016." “FIFA will now initiate a global dialogue with key stakeholders. Together with them, FIFA will determine what conclusions must be drawn from the Diarra decision, and which changes are most appropriate and suitable to make to article 17 of the RSTP.” FIFA Chief Legal & Compliance Officer Emilio García Silvero has conducted an interview (https://lnkd.in/dSZDyQkM) to explain FIFA’s position on the Diarra case. #MuñozAriasSportsLawyers #sportslawyers #FIFA
