Feedback, but make it awesome Like every year, 2025 has arrived with its share of new challenges and resolutions. And, as always, the beginning of a new year brings the timeless commitment to improvement. Today, let's talk about a key element of effective people management: giving and receiving feedback. Done right, feedback becomes a powerful tool for growth, alignment, and achieving objectives. It’s not just about delivering a message—it’s about fostering a meaningful and constructive experience. 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝟳 𝗸𝗲𝘆𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸: 🔹 Be specific. Avoid generalizations—address specific actions or behaviors. Vague feedback can frustrate and demotivate, making the recipient feel unfairly judged or unsure how to improve. 🔹 Suggest, don’t order. Frame feedback as a suggestion or an opinion rather than an authoritarian command. This approach fosters collaboration and openness. 🔹 Be constructive. Pair criticism with actionable ideas for improvement. Feedback should be a stepping stone, not a stumbling block. 🔹 Focus on the work, not the person. Feedback should target actions or outcomes, not someone’s personality or character. The goal isn’t to change who they are, but to improve what they do. 🔹 Be direct and concise. Get to the point without unnecessary embellishments, but always deliver feedback with tact and sensitivity. 🔹 Listen actively. Feedback is a two-way street. Give space for the other person to share their perspective or clarify misunderstandings. 🔹 Give feedback in private. Privacy creates a safe space for dialogue and avoids the embarrassment or defensiveness that public criticism can cause. Feedback is more than a one-time conversation—it’s a crucial part of fostering a positive employee experience. 🚀
