📢💡 Hiring at the Talent Boost Week, UPF 💡📢 Last week, our Business Developer, Azucena Rodríguez Ramírez, had the pleasure of attending the Talent Boost Week at Universitat Pompeu Fabra - Barcelona, an incredible event organized with the collaboration of Angèlica Turrión Garcia and Pilar Serra from Barcelona Activa, who bring passion and dedication to everything they do. It was inspiring to meet such talented and high-level profiles among UPF's master students. Their energy, curiosity, and drive left us feeling optimistic about the future of innovation and collaboration. At VRAIn, we’d love to hire some of them as interns at the beginning of next year. With our tool for the visualization and analysis of biomedical images from real patients in spatial computing environments through VR, AR, and AI ready to launch non-medical products for medical training and patient engagement, we need all the help possible from fresh, curious, and motivated minds with marketing and sales interests. 💡 🏥 Inspiring the Future of Surgery with ScalpelVR 🏥 💡 VRAIn had the pleasure of welcoming students Adrià Rey Peces, Clara Massegú, Blanca Seguí and their professor Meritxell Girvent, from @Universitat Pompeu Fabra - Barcelona and Hospital del Mar, who visited us to test the latest updates of #ScalpelVRTraining. With haptic elements, new instruments, and an innovative separator tool for tissue visualization, the tool is evolving into a more immersive and dynamic experience for medical trainees and surgeons. These students, who are also members of the Gimbernat Surgical Society, were the original inspiration behind this tool. Time ago, they asked our CEO, Daniel Esteban-Ferrer, PhD, "How can #VR and #AR help medical students better understand anatomical relationships?" This sparked the origin of ScalpelVR: developing a tool to learn directly from the technology real doctors use, allowing a more authentic and meaningful way of learning for students and making it a real-world application for both, doctors and medical trainees. We are proud to be participating in the Scalpel Congress VI next February, which is organized by these incredible students, and we are excited to showcase how ScalpelVR is bridging the gap between education and real-world practice. 🌎💡From Harvard to Silicon Valley: Pioneering the Future of Healthcare 🌍 💡 Our CEO, Daniel Esteban Ferrer, recently embarked on an exciting journey to the US, visiting some of the world’s top universities—Harvard Business School, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford University School of Medicine and University of California, Berkeley. This trip allowed him to reconnect with his former professors, some of them valued members of the present VRAIn Board of Scientific Advisors. Daniel also met with other academic leaders to strengthen collaborations and explore new horizons in our research. In addition to his academic visits, Daniel spent time at Apple, Google, and Meta headquarters, drawing inspiration from their innovative approaches. His journey also took him to Silicon Valley’s Stand Hill Road, where leading Venture Capital firms have expressed keen interest in supporting our project, especially as we work towards opening our US headquarters in 2025. We develop innovative software solutions for the #MedTech and #BioTech sectors, focusing right now on #DigitalHealth and #MedicalDevices. Our core product is a cloud-based immersive platform compatible with any medical institution´s PACS for visualizing and analyzing #BiomedicalImages in #SpatialComputing environments, integrating #VirtualReality, #AugmentedReality and #ArtificialIntelligence. Here are the key takeaways: ☁️ Unity Cloud & LiveOps: Unity Cloud offers Version Control, Build Automation, and Asset Management, making it easier for organizations to streamline their workflow. LiveOps takes the experience further by enabling live operations that enhance user engagement post-launch with real-time updates, and data-driven adjustments—perfect for boosting retention! 🤖 XR Innovations: New API versions are here, including AR Foundation V6 with passthrough and XR Interaction Toolkit V3, introducing features like hand gestures, composition layers, and enhanced Quest graphics with SpaceWarp. 🌐 WebGPU: A game changer for web development, WebGPU gives browsers direct access to the GPU, making browser experiences as smooth as native apps! 🎮💡 ¡Gamification Beyond the Basics! 💡🎮 In our latest Journal Club session, video game developer at VRAIn, Maria Garrigolas, presented a deep dive into the science and strategy behind gamification. She explained how gamification, when used correctly, transforms ordinary tasks into compelling journeys. One of the key models she explored was Joseph Campbell’s “Hero’s Journey”—a narrative structure that can be leveraged to enhance user engagement and motivation. This framework, originally designed for storytelling, is a powerful tool for understanding the stages users go through in their own "adventure" within your product. 🌐🔬A Promising Visit to CMCiB at Can Ruti Campus! 🌐🔬 This week, our VR Engineer, Javi Herreiz Abad; Medical Doctor and Aerospatial Engineer Pau Serra Bou; and our Business Developer, Azucena Rodríguez Ramírez, had the pleasure of being hosted by Gemma Monté Rubio, Head of Bioimaging; and Míriam Gironès, Director of Business Development, at the Center for Comparative Medicine and Bioimaging of Catalonia (#CMCiB). The CMCiB is a research centre designed for innovation and preclinical biomedical research, part of the Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP)'s strategic project focusing on critical fields such as infectious and cardiovascular diseases, oncology, endocrinology, neurosciences, and surgery. It was inspiring to see how the centre promotes comparative medicine and serves as a pivotal tech transfer agent in the international health ecosystem, supporting the research community of Catalonia.
