🪂 On a cold night in September 1943, Elżbieta Zawacka parachuted into #Nazi-occupied #Poland to join the #resistance. 💪Known as "Zo," she was not only a #fighter but a #revolutionary for #womenrights in the #PolishHomeArmy. Her efforts were crucial during the #WarsawUprising, where she helped secure military status for #femalesoldiers, saving thousands from #execution or #concentrationcamps.  🔑 A key player in #intelligence, Zo smuggled information in everyday objects like hollow keys, braving Nazi-occupied Europe. Despite her #bravery, she was #captured and #tortured by her own #government after the war. 🏛️ Her #legacy lives on in #Poland, where she is remembered as a national hero. 🌍 Memorial Democràtic has announced that around 50 students participating in the WIRE_EU project will visit the MUME La Jonquera (Exile Memorial Museum) and the #MinaCanta on October 29th. 📅 This visit is an important milestone in the final stages of the #MemoryRoute that will take place in #Spain. During this time, the students will participate in several activities designed to deepen their understanding of the #memory and #history of #women in the #Resistance. 🏛️ We believe that these experiences will foster meaningful #connections and reflections on #Europe's past.
