🗞 ✨ Good news: Biosurfactant investment is growing! According to this article (https://lnkd.in/d8F75dG3) posted in Chemical & Engineering News (CEN), the landscape of companies focused on producing #Biosurfactants is scaling up, with startups securing millions of euros in investment rounds, established biosurfactant enterprises investing in production plants around Europe and an ever-growing attendance to world-class event like ICIS World Surfactants Conference. As CEN explains, biosurfactants are developed via fermentation and contain a hydrophilic sugar head and a hydrophobic fatty acid tail. They are especially useful when creating cleaning and personal care products, as they are “gentle to skin, hair, and mucous membranes relative to conventional surfactants such as sodium lauryl ether sulfate”. It's important that the market of biosurfactant keeps growing and generating opportunities for the companies that are taking the risk to develop them, because, according to the article, even though these compounds might be “more expensive relative to commodity surfactants”, “their mildness and low environmental impact put them in line with consumer trends”. Excited to announce that I'll be moderating a roundtable on #synbio at the most important #bioeconomy event in #Spain, the Green Innovation Forum (Pamplona, 19/11)! 🌍 (11/ñ) This event, organised by AseBio - Asociación Española de Bioempresas, highlights biotechnology's role in building a sustainable, carbon-neutral economy, aligned with the 2030 Agenda and European Green Deal. It connects key players from industry, academia, and the public sector, addressing challenges like climate change and sustainable food, while fostering business and investment opportunities 🤝🏼 I’m very grateful to Ion and Stuart for inviting ATG SynBio Spain to be a supporter and for trusting me to moderate the panel. A big thanks also to Margarita for handling all the logistics. Without further ado, let me tell you about the panel 🎺 The focus will be on how synbio is driving the transition to a greener, more sustainable future. 📢 More #Tecniospring project successes! Our #Tecniospring Senior Researcher Brian Jimenez at Zymvol Biomodeling has developed an inhibition of detergent enzymes advanced prediction software! ZYMBOL was the overall winner of the Innovation Radar Prize 2023 of the European Commission 💡 Did you know that enzymes are industrially used in laundry detergents? Its properties allow detergents to be more effective using less resources. However, they must be associated with inhibitors, some of them polluting agents such as boron.
