Beer made out of stale bread leftovers. 🥖🍺 And giants like Repsol love the idea. Sr. Mendrugo, the Spanish brewery started by Pascual Innoventures , decided to incorporate zero waste and impact at the core of their business. These are their key impact points: 1️⃣ Their beer substitutes 50% of barley malt for stale bread. 2️⃣ They collect 1200+ stale bread bars from Repsol gas stations and other establishments every month. 3️⃣ They give the post-fermentation leftovers to farmers near the brewery so they can feed the animals. This way they save many resources! Water, wasted bread, land, emissions, barley. Would you try it? It’s still a small brand, but thanks to their approach in 2023 they: - Saved 900K liters of water by using bread instead of barley. - Gave value to 1000kg of bread that was going to be thrown away. It’s a role model for the food industry. – Enjoy this? 📥Join 1,500+ in my free newsletter to learn about cool climate tech companies weekly.
