Reflection paper on the future of European Defence
The Commission has published a reflection paper on the Future of European Defence which outlines different scenarios for moving towards a Security and Defence Union. The paper is complemented by concrete proposals to launch a European Defence Fund which will support more efficient spending by Member States on joint defence capabilities.
Strengthening the protection and security of European citizens is part of the Juncker Commission priorities . The paper is the fourth in a series of thematic papers, announced in the White paper of the future of Europe presented on 1 March 2017, which sets out the main challenges and opportunities for Europe in the coming decade.
