📣 Exciting news! 📣 Live from the Nordic Circular Summit in Helsinki, Combient Pure is happy to announce a new NORDIC CIRCULAR PILOTING PROGRAM for TECHNICAL BUILDING SOLUTIONS! ✨ Funded by Nordic Innovation, Combient Pure together with its program partners ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems, Cradlenet, Demontera, KONE, Multiconsult, nolla_E, Skanska, Swegon Group and Vasakronan will be driving a 20-month industry-wide program for piloting circular solutions in real buildings in the Nordics. We invite all relevant value chain members along to take circularity in this product category forward, and to pilot circular solutions with us. How do circular business models change the linear supply chain? A couple of weeks ago we were happy to co-host an event on the Supply Chain of Tomorrow, together with Combient and in collaboration with Chalmers University of Technology who have been our partner in the Vinnova funded Digitala Stambanan project. One part of the event focused on the sustainability transition and the way in which the production-optimized linear supply chain will have to change in the future. We put together our thoughts also in a blog post, exploring the great potential that circular economy brings to supply chains, making it possible to build more #resilient, #efficient and #lowcarbon ways of producing products and services in the global economy. Our key point? Circular economy is the ultimate economic model of the future - either because of we run out of virgin non-renewable materials, or because we proactively take the steps towards sustainable material use. The companies who capitalize on circularity today will define the supply chains of tomorrow, ensuring their position in the future economy. This afternoon we were happy to host Aalto University students from the CEMS Club Helsinki and Aalto Sustainability Club at our office, to share how we at Pure are pushing large companies forward in decarbonization and circularity. The group of students is doing a “Sustainability Company Crawl” today to get to know companies that are making significant strides in sustainability. Scope 3 regulation was the talk of the day yesterday, as Combient Pure's Scope 3 Decarbonization Accelerator kicked off its first module at Stora Enso's new Helsinki headquarters. We were happy to have nearly 30 Combient companies join the day either on-site or online. Highlights from the day included:  🌡️  To comply with new regulation, a 1.5 degree-aligned, credible climate transition plan (including Scope 3!) is a must 📝 Scope 3 data is a key challenge - tackling it starts with getting data requirements into supplier contracts 🔍 Product-specific calculations can help create clarity and focus in the black box of Scope 3 calculations 👋 Scope 3 work spans internal functions and companies across industries - the best way to get started is reach across siloes and start conversations Many thanks to our stellar speakers Lia Heasman, Hanna Pihkola, Catharina Hohenthal and Tuuli Kaskinen for their to-the-point presentations and insights, and a big thank you to our engaged participants from the Combient network! Next week we are gathering over 20 Combient companies together to concretely start accelerating their Scope 3 work! Our theme for the first workshop on October 8 in Helsinki (hybrid) is regulation: what are the implications of the CSRD, CSDDD, ESPR and CBAM on large companies and their value chain decarbonization work? We will discuss questions like: 👀 How do companies need to change the ways they are currently working on climate topics? 💶 What are the financial and other implications of non-compliance in the face of these new regulations? ➡️ How can companies internally organize for the work and how does accountability extend to management teams and boards? 🌐 How does corporate Scope 3 work relate to global decarbonization efforts? CSRD and CSDDD are about to change what climate means for companies. First comes the CSRD reporting: how we are doing on climate? Then the tricky part, with CSDDD making active management and due diligence on climate matters throughout the value chain mandatory. This Tuesday we had the pleasure of co-hosting a workshop together with Combient on Supply Chain Sustainability - a topic that is top of mind for all Combient companies. We were happy to engage in very active discussions with the participants, supply chain and sustainability leaders and experts from the network companies. Our key takeaways from the session: ⏳ Developing supply chain sustainability requires time - consumer-facing companies may be further along in their journeys, but no one is all done 💶 Supply chain sustainability development requires investments - new ways of financing corporate sustainability work are needed as pricing premiums for sustainability are often not possible 🥕 Leverage towards the supply chain can be gained by engaging with other companies 🎵 Internal alignment between corporate functions is essential for (supply chain) sustainability work Thanks to everyone who participated, let's continue the discussions!
