🌍🍜 Finnish Paulig Group acquires leading Dutch brand Conimex from Unilever and expands in Asian cuisine. Conimex was founded in 1932 in Baarn, Netherlands, and has grown significantly over the years, expanding its product line to over 100 items. The brand has a brand awareness of 87 percent in the Netherlands, is recognised for its distinctive yellow packaging, and has become a staple in Dutch households.

This strategic acquisition enhances our commitment to bringing more delicious food experiences to consumers. 🎊 Honorary Consul of the Netherlands in Turku, Kaisa Leiwo, hosted a nice Sinterklaas/glögi get together for Dutch people living in Turku and Turku area. Kaisa is the CEO of the Turku Chamber of Commerce (Turun kauppakamari) and that is where the celebration took place. Also Deputy Ambassador Lieske de Krijger joined the celebration, and she was delighted to attend on behalf of the Embassy. Thank you for hosting Kaisa!
Today we were celebrating Sinterklaas with Dutch friends living around Turku. It was so good to see You all and have some glögi together. Each year, Sinterklaas (St Nicholas, Santa Claus) travels from Madrid to the Netherlands to celebrate his birthday on 5 December. He'll give away sweets and presents. Thank You Lieske de Krijger and Embassy of the Netherlands in Finland for participating.

♻️ The past weeks were filled with the economic mission and Slush, but also the Nordic Circular Summit took place in Helsinki! Taking place in the scenic auditorium of the Aalto University, the Summit explored circularity in all its facets. The main program included sessions on the enterprise of the circular economy, new nature value, and circular leadership. Here, Anne Mieke van der Werf presented the work of Invest-NL, showing how impact financing can enable the acceleration of the circular transition. In addition, the Embassies of the Netherlands in Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Iceland collectively hosted a webinar in which the inspiring case of the Circulair Friesland Association was presented by John Vernooij and Nick Boersma. John explained how Omrin, a regional waste management company and recycling frontrunner, builds circular (waste) chains. Heikki Moilanen from Circular Pirkanmaa / KIPI – Kiertotalous Pirkanmaa provided a perspective from Finnish frontrunner region Tampere, where hard work is put into, in particular, circular construction. All of this under the moderation of Friso Pietersen. A big thanks to all speakers and participants! The Netherlands Defence College visited Helsinki. Students of the Hogere Defensie Vorming (Advanced Command and Staff Course) paid a visit to Helsinki on a curricular trip. The students are well on their way to top positions in the Dutch military and Ministerie van Defensie. Ambassador Govert Jan Bijl de Vroe welcomed them at the residence. Deputy Defence Attache Petra Vissers gave a presentation on Defence Cooperation in the Nordics. And with Charly Salonius-Pasternak, leading researcher at Finnish Institute of International Affairs - FIIA, they discussed the current security situation in the region and the role of Finland as new NATO member. #internationalsecurity #NATO #EU #defense
