Arto Klami will start with AI to assist scientific discovery, Morten Bormann Nielsen will introduce Brownie Bee - a web-based tool for optimization problems, and Søren Furbo will finish off with using the tool to automate drug development. Researchers trained a Finnish large language model with over 40,000 patient records, including retinal images and doctors' notes, to create an AI system that can identify and classify diabetic retinopathy, a potentially blinding eye condition. The study from Joel Jaskari, Kimmo Kaski and colleagues at Aalto University was a collaboration with HUS Helsingin yliopistollinen sairaala.
