🔥 The heat is on in Finland in the end of the year when it comes to investment news. There are many large investment cases moving forward, to name a few: 💡 Green North Energy announced that Meridiam, a French infrastructure investor, has joined its undertaking to build a 280-megawatt green ammonia production plant in Naantali, Southwest Finland. 💡 A partnership of leading industrial, energy, and climate technology-focused companies will commence a feasibility study regarding a low-carbon aluminium manufacturing facility in Kokkola and Kronoby, West Finland. The initiative is financed by Rio Tinto, Mitsubishi Corporation, Fortum, Vargas, and Tesi. 💡 Norsk e-Fuel has secured a greenfield site in Imatra, Southeast Finland, as part of its strategic project pipeline. The site has sufficient space to build an 80,000-ton e-Fuel plant and potential for further expansion. 💡 Google is planning to expand its cloud and data centre infrastructure in the country after receiving permission to acquire four parcels of land, covering altogether some 1 400 hectares, in Kajaani and Muhos, Northern Finland. 🤗 Finland ranks no. 1 in the latest edition of the Good Country Index – the country comes top of the ranking for the second time since the study was launched in 2014. Meaning, that Finland is the country that, relative to its size, contributes most to the world outside its own borders. 💡 The Good Country Index measures how successfully countries balance their domestic and international responsibilities: doing the right thing for their own people and territory while also contributing meaningfully to the rest of humanity and the whole planet. 💧 Offering the right mix of required resources and an increasing number of end-use applications, Finland is primed for #hydrogen investment and growth. 💡 “In Finland, hydrogen projects are built on solid business cases. We do not have extensive national subsidy schemes for hydrogen like in some other countries. This is a deliberate approach that helps to ensure long-term viability. We offer a solid foundation for companies looking to invest in hydrogen production, technology and derivatives,” explains our colleague at Business Finland, Ecosystem Manager Tero Ijäs. 💡 The European Union has set an ambitious target of 10 million tons of clean hydrogen production annually by 2030 – Finland’s government has adopted a resolution to contribute at least 10%, and the aim is to build the most attractive hydrogen economy in the EU. 💡 Our team with other Business Finland colleagues will be at H2 Summit & Expo in Tampere 22–23 January 2025 – come and explore the business opportunities in the Finnish hydrogen economy! 🌐 NEWS FLASH: Google has announced of buying a total of 1 400 hectares of land in Kajaani and Muhos to expand its cloud and data centre infrastructure in Finland. The total value of the deal is said to be more than €27 million. 💡 Earlier this year in May, Google announced an investment of €1 billion to expand its data centre in Hamina, bringing the company's total investment in Finland to more than €4,5 billion, and adding an additional 100 jobs for the new data center building currently under construction. 💡 "For more than a decade, Finland has been home for our Google data center in Hamina, and we're dedicated to supporting the country's growing digital ambitions. Even before a final investment decision is made for the development of the sites in Kajaani and Muhos, we are working in close consultation with local and national stakeholders on a plan that supports the long-term health of the community’s economy and natural resources. This is the first step in a long process," states Antti Järvinen, Country Director at Google Finland. Read more ➡️ https://lnkd.in/dRmB-ZXs
