Kohti kunnianhimoisempia luontotavoitteita 🌏 Outokumpu osallistui UN Global Compact Network Finlandin järjestämään Tieteeseen perustuvat luontotavoitteet -ohjelmaan. Ohjelman tavoitteena oli tutustua Science Based Targets Networkin luontotavoitteiden viitekehykseen sekä auttaa yrityksiä tunnistamaan omat luontovaikutuksensa. ”Luontokato on yksi aikamme suurimmista haasteista ilmastonmuutoksen ohella, ja me Outokummulla haluamme edistää kestävää luonnonvarojen käyttöä. Ohjelmaan osallistuminen syvensi ymmärystämme Outokummun luontovaikutuksista. The year 2024 was challenging for Outokumpu with weak demand and significant import pressure, but we are preparing for the next market upturn. With our strong financial position and a positive long-term outlook for the global stainless steel industry, we are already working on the upcoming strategy phase of Outokumpu. We will get back to this in our Capital Markets Day in June 2025.   In the tough market environment of 2024, we generated 177 million euros of adjusted EBITDA and maintained our solid financial position. What makes me especially proud are:    ✔ our top market position in Europe and second place in North America,  ✔ our balance sheet – strongest in the industry,  ✔ our good progress with our smart decarbonization strategy,  ✔ our world-class safety performance, and  ✔ our Board’s proposal of dividend of 0.26 euros per share.     We also have initiated decisive short-term cost-saving measures to improve profitability. Our focus is on navigating successfully through current geopolitical uncertainty and securing the financial strength of Outokumpu. Outokumpu has appointed Matthieu Jehl as President of business line Stainless Europe and member of the Outokumpu Leadership Team as of May 26, 2025, at the latest. “Matthieu has a vast international experience in the industry and a deep understanding of the European steel market. His industry expertise combined with his strong leadership skills and inspiring personality will be valuable to Outokumpu. I’m excited to have Matthieu with us and look forward to working with him – he will be warmly welcomed to the team,” says Kati ter Horst, President and CEO of Outokumpu. “Joining Outokumpu’s Leadership Team to lead business line Stainless Europe represents an exciting new era for me professionally. Personally, I find it meaningful that Outokumpu is the clear industry leader in sustainability and is advancing stainless steel production with the lowest carbon footprint in the industry. At such a pivotal moment for the European steel industry, I am thrilled to become part of this amazing journey at Outokumpu,” says Matthieu Jehl.
