5th Mentoring Program by Startup Refugees is now wrapped! 👏 What a day at the Startup Refugees Mentoring Program closing event, made possible through an amazing collaboration with Netlight and Tietoevry. The representatives from Tietoevry, Netlight and Startup Refugees kicked off an afternoon full of energy! ✨ Mentees and mentors from Netlight, Tietoevry, and others shared stories that were insightful, moving, and yes, sometimes pretty funny too 😂. Companies like SOK Digital Development joined in on the stage to share exciting opportunities, sparking loads of curiosity and lively chats. Let’s not forget, certificates were handed out to our mentees, coffee and snacks kept everyone going, and we ended with a big group photo to mark the moment. 🫶 A huge thank you to Tietoevry, Netlight, and all the mentors and mentees who made this program such a success. Job seeking is a journey… YOU READY? This week's RISE session was all about breaking barriers and opening doors!🚪 We dug into the realities of job hunting in Finland, focusing on the challenges faced by highly educated migrants. We were so pumped to have two incredible guest speakers with us, Milena Piippo, Project Manager at Luova Työmaa & Samuli Viitasaari, Digital Marketing Specialist at Design Inspis. Together, we discussed everything from navigating cultural differences to making your CV stand out. ✨ We’ll let you in on the points – little something to get you thinking too: 👉 The similarities and differences in job-seeking experiences between Finns and migrants. 👉 Tips for building your professional brand and network. 👉 Real talk about resilience and mindset during the job search. The session ended on a motivating note with these wise words from Samuli: "No matter the twists and turns of job seeking, it remains just that—a process of seeking a job. It does not define your worth or how successful you are as a person." 💪
