Inspired by Finland’s well-being model, I’ve been reflecting on how simple yet impactful practices can transform workplaces. Here are five such practices that can make a meaningful difference: ✅ Foundational Support: Access to education and healthcare ensures individuals feel supported both personally and professionally. ✅ Flexible Work Models: Options like reduced hours or remote work boost productivity and improve work-life balance. ✅ Inclusion and Equality: Policies fostering gender equality and inclusivity create environments where everyone feels valued and respected. ✅ Continuous Learning: Opportunities for skill development and growth keep teams motivated and engaged. ✅ Transparent Communication: Open dialogue and decentralized decision-making foster collaboration and inclusivity. Leaders play a fundamental role in shaping workplace well-being. Small actions like practicing empathy, celebrating achievements, supporting work-life balance, and active listening can make all the difference in preventing burnout and strengthening teams. • This past Tuesday, Business Finland and the Embassy of Finland in Lima organized an event titled “Circular Economy in Mining: Peru and Finland building together a sustainable mining strategy”, where experts from both countries shared experiences and visions towards transitioning to a more responsible and sustainable mining. The event began with opening speeches by the Finnish Ambassador to Peru, Antti Rytövuori, and the Finnish Minister of Economic Affairs, Wille Rydman, who emphasized that the collaboration between Finland and Peru goes hand in hand with the individual goals of each country. A remarkable highlight of the event was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two countries, which reaffirms their commitment to the circular economy. 🇫🇮♻️🇵🇪 The Finnish success in circular economy was a recurring theme throughout the event, with speakers emphasizing how it is built on close collaboration between the government, industry, academia and civil society. On Peru’s side, the Peruvian ViceMinister of Mines, Henry Luna, highlighted the relevance of the National Multi-sectoral Mining Policy 2050 as a pillar to transform the mining industry into a more inclusive and socially responsible sector. The event also included panel discussions that touched upon innovative solutions to sustainability challenges in mining. Sociedad Minera Cerro Verde pinpointed the importance of impact programs that benefit all economic sectors, Metso highlighted the use of technologies in mining to reduce energy, carbon, and water consumption, Nokia shared how AI is being used to improve efficiency and sustainability, and Business Finland spotlighted integrated planning as a key element of Finland's success in circular economy. Finally, Metso and Sociedad Minera Cerro Verde received special recognition for their contributions to sustainable mining practices. 🌟 Take a look at the event highlights in the photo gallery below! ⤵️ #SustainableMining #FinlandAndPeru

  • 🌿 Finland and the Nordics at #COP16! The world's largest biodiversity summit brought together leaders, experts, and changemakers from across the globe in Cali, Colombia. Alongside our Nordic neighbors: Denmark, Norway, and Sweden. Finland helped spark meaningful conversations on sustainability and biodiversity at four dynamic events. ♻️ Guided by the theme #SustainableInnovation, we welcomed over 400 participants from government, business, academia, and civil society to dive into key topics like the bioeconomy, circular solutions for waste, and sustainable mining practices. 🌍 Some highlights include a remarkable Ministerial Panel on Biodiversity Through Circular Thinking featuring Environment Ministers from Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Colombia. They tackled the critical shift from linear to circular economies, emphasizing bold policies and collaboration as the foundation for a greener future. ✍🏻 The message was clear: we must keep driving sustainable innovation to safeguard biodiversity. Our next big step? The World Circular Economy Forum in Brazil on May 2025.
