Interesting to see the latest innovations from the world of agricultural machinery at #WFIRA25 these days in Toulouse. Many interesting demos and talks from a world where the big manufacturers seem to be riding well the wave of what AI and Robotics can bring in terms of field production impact. Lot of pain points emerged such as the lack of manpower as well as the limited spending power, especially for smaller farms. Many of the demos focused on addressing these pain points but the adoption threshold remains still rather high with tens of K Euros being the entry level for anything that could automate some of the agricultural practices which are more suited to automation, such as weeding, spraying, ploughing, seeding etc. Lot of emphasis on regulations for ensuring safety of machinery for workers and wild animals. Precision harvesting still has some way to go judging from what was showcases here.
Where is the business for agrifoodTEF? safety validation for standards compliance certainly, we are going to see more and more of such requirements to be met with field validation tests of robotics equipment, as well as all the digital services that can target the wealth of supply chain SMEs orbiting around big manufacturers, providing #AI-based solutions and giving them the power of reliable perception “at the edge”, which underpins robust autonomy and lean maintenance.
Come and discover what AgrifoodTEF can do for your SME at booth #8 in these last few hours of #WFIRA25, one of us will be there to explain the opportunities for Europan SMEs working in the field of AI and Robotics for #agrifood
