In glassmaking, up to 50% of natural gas can be replaced with #hydrogen. 💡 Hydrogen is one of the solutions to #decarbonize hard-to-abate industries. By 2050, according to a study by the Hydrogen Council, hydrogen could cover 20 to 25% of the energy needs of industrial processes that require high temperatures. This year, Air Liquide and SGD Pharma carried out tests to reduce the carbon #footprint of the #glassindustry, which is a particularly energy-intensive sector. When used as a combustible instead of natural gas, hydrogen can be a low-carbon alternative since, during its combustion, it combines with oxygen to only form water vapor. Moreover, when it is produced from renewable electricity, the environmental footprint of hydrogen is even smaller.

In 2024, Access Oxygen is taking a new step forward with its deployment in Mali. Thanks to a #donation from Airgas to FENASCOM (Federation of community health associations) , 20 health facilities are being equipped with medical oxygen concentrators to save lives. 🤝 To carry out this project in Mali, Access Oxygen is working with Mag Global Service to install the #equipment, maintain the #oxygen concentrators and provide technical training for #medical staff in the health facilities. 🌍 Access Oxygen, an Air Liquide initiative, continues its efforts to make medical oxygen accessible to populations in low- and middle-income countries (LMIC). Since 2017, more than 2 million people in Senegal, South Africa and Kenya have already benefited from medical oxygen in health centres in rural and peri-urban areas, thanks to this program. Medical oxygen saves lives.

Air Liquide has been awarded a grant of 1️⃣1️⃣0️⃣ million euros from the European Innovation Fund for its ENHANCE project in the port of Antwerp-Bruges, Belgium, that aims to produce and distribute #lowcarbon and #renewable #hydrogen derived from #ammonia. As part of the project, Air Liquide intends to build, own and operate a first-of-its-kind large scale renewable ammonia cracking plant and an innovative hydrogen liquefier. ❓ ATR: how does it work? ⤵️ Autothermal Reforming (ATR) is emerging as a promising technology to produce low-carbon hydrogen on a large scale. It is based on an advanced chemical process. Unlike traditional processes, which require large amounts of external heat, ATR combines two chemical reactions: partial oxidation and steam reforming. These two reactions occur simultaneously within a reactor, generating the heat needed for the process through an autothermal reaction. This means that the system itself produces the heat it needs, thus greatly reducing dependence on external energy sources. Find out more right here! #hydrogen #lowcarbon #ATR
