A new and great achievement for the ANR (Agence nationale de la recherche) ANUBIS PROJECT. Congratulations to all the team and especially Camille Goudenhooft
Congratulations to Camille Goudenhooft and team on our recent publication in #Carbohydrate #Polymers as part of the ANUBIS PROJECT. We couple a range of #multiscale #microspectroscopic techniques to study and compare the composition, ultrastructure and mechanical characteristics of #flax #fibres and #yarns from a #4000yearold #Egyptian mortuary fabric and modern linen textile. New insights on kink-band defects, and the degradation of cell wall polymers (cellulosic and non-cellulosic). Combining #archaeometry and #materials #science research. with Alain BOURMAUD, johnny beaugrand, Alessia Melelli, Loren Morgillo https://lnkd.in/eARHYdK8

A fantastic opportunity this week for the ANR (Agence nationale de la recherche) ANUBIS PROJECT with the keynote talk of Alain BOURMAUD at ECCM21 conference organized in Nantes by ESCM. The main results of the project were disseminated to the European community of composites, close to 1500 experts are attending to the conference. VASUKI RAJAKUMARAN , PHD student in ANUBIS PROJECT delivered also a conference about her thesis work dedicated to mechanical and modeling investigations on modern and ancient Egyptian yarns. Congratulations Vasuki ! Thank you to the organizers and ESCM for giving us this insight. Very productive period for ANUBIS PROJECT with the publication of the new paper of VASUKI RAJAKUMARAN in Industrial Crops and Products journal. The main objective of this work is to gain a comprehensive understanding of the damage mechanism in flax fiber bundles presenting a novel aspect due to the intricate structure of bundle fibers, which is more complex compared to elementary fibers. The study specifically explores flax fiber bundles under tensile loading and investigates the impact of kink-bands on their failure through a combined approach, utilizing both experimental and numerical methods. In the experimental part, X-ray microtomography in situ tensile testing is carried out, which reveals complex failure mechanisms. Furthermore, a 3D-Finite Elements (FE) model is implemented utilizing 3D reconstructed fiber and used for numerical tensile analysis. Our work highlights that the kink-band region acts as prominent failure site in fiber bundles with significant stress concentration at the kink-band region, mainly induced by local porosity. https://lnkd.in/eA-dG5Wd ANUBIS PROJECT, INRAE BIA, Université Bretagne Sud, IRDL - UMR CNRS 6027/UBS/ENSTA-Bretagne/ENIB/UBO, Institut français d'archéologie orientale - Ifao, Synchrotron SOLEIL, MISL Mines Paris PSL

ANUBIS PROJECT is this week in the wonderful city of Oslo for the In'Art conference dedicated to scientific investigations and studies on ancient materials. Two presentations yesterday with Camille Goudenhooft and Alain BOURMAUD on mechanical and synchrotron characterization of our ancient flax samples. Great also to discover all the topics and discuss with the community and participants.

Today is an important day for the ANR (Agence nationale de la recherche) ANUBIS PROJECT with the publication of the first paper fully designed by the consortium. The work is dedicated to the degradation mechanisms of archaeological flax textiles through the evolution of fibres’ parietal polymers by synchrotron deep-UV fluorescence. The paper is fully dedicated to deep-UV fluorescence investigations on the DISCO beamline of Synchrotron SOLEIL. Congratulations to Alessia Melelli and all the ANUBIS PROJECT partners.
