Less than a week after its launch, the Copernicus #Sentinel1 C satellite has delivered its first radar images of Earth! This Sentinel-1C image of the Netherlands echoes the very first SAR image acquired by the legacy European Remote-Sensing (ERS) mission in 1991, which captured the Flevoland polder and the Ijsselmeer – marking the first European radar image ever taken from space. 🌍🇪🇺 In this image you can concretely spot part of the Netherlands, including Amsterdam and the region of Flevoland, renowned for its extensive farmland and advanced water management systems. Our satellite is equipped with a state-of-the-art C-band synthetic aperture radar (SAR) instrument. This cutting-edge technology allows it to deliver high-resolution imagery day and night, in all weather conditions. This is how it supports critical applications such as environmental management, disaster response and climate change research. #EUSpace

🌍 𝗟𝗲 𝗖𝗡𝗘𝗦 𝗲𝘁 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗖𝘂𝗯𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲́𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗷𝗲𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗰 𝗹𝗲 𝗷𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗮𝘂 𝗻𝘂𝗺𝗲́𝗿𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗱𝗗𝗔𝗠-𝗗𝗧 ! 🌊 Le SCO est fier de partager le fruit d’une collaboration internationale exceptionnelle, réunissant plusieurs agences autour d’une cause commune : mieux comprendre, prévoir et atténuer les risques d'inondation grâce aux technologies numériques et spatiales. 🚀 💡 #FloodDAMDT (Flood Detection, Alert & Rapid Mapping Digital Twin) combine des données d’observation de la Terre, des capteurs terrestres et des drones avec des modèles hydrodynamiques de pointe. Le résultat ? Une capacité unique à : ✅ Détecter et alerter en cas d’inondations ✅ Cartographier en temps quasi réel l’étendue des sinistres ✅ Fournir des prévisions précises pour mieux anticiper ✅ Estimer les risques financiers pour les zones agricoles ✅ Visualiser les événements via une plateforme nationale interactive Cette innovation n’aurait pas été possible sans l’effort conjoint du CNES, de la NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration, et de partenaires tels que #VigiCrues, CERFACS, QuantCube Technology, et bien d'autres. Ensemble, nous avons déployé cet outil sur deux bassins versants pilotes : la Garonne Marmandaise en France et l’Ohio aux États-Unis. 🔎 𝗣𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗾𝘂𝗼𝗶 𝗲𝘀𝘁-𝗰𝗲 𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝗿𝗲́𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 ? The European Space Agency - ESA celebrates the collaboration between Dotphoton and SATLANTIS, achieved as a result of Dotphoton's activities with the Agency. This partnership set a 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐛𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐡𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤 𝐢𝐧 𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐎𝐛𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 (𝐄𝐎) by integrating Dotphoton’s Jetraw Core compression technology into the GEISAT Precursor satellite. This technology has 𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐞’𝐬 𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐚𝐜𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐲 and expanded its daily surface coverage to 175,000 km², while preserving critical image fidelity and full resolution, essential for modern AI image processing pipelines. José Achache, chairman of Dotphoton and former architect of the Copernicus Programme, ESA's Earth Observation programme, highlighted how Dotphoton’s Jetraw Core compression technology addresses the challenge of large data volumes in Earth observation by maintaining high image quality and promoting sustainability, to improve AI data analysis and advance Earth observation in collaboration with SATLANTIS.
