Institut de Chimie et des Matériaux Paris Est

The Eastern Paris Institute of Chemistry and Materials Science (ICMPE – UMR 7182) is a research laboratory attached to the French National Research and Science Center (CNRS) and the Eastern Paris University at Créteil (UPEC). Our laboratory focuses on an original and innovative research in the areas of chemistry and materials science. This research is conducted at the interface of different scientific fields, including physics, biology, and engineering, in order to better address the nowadays social challenges in the transverse themes of energy, transportation, environment, sustainability and health. Geographically located between Paris and Orly Airport, ICMPE is housed in the CNRS campus at Thiais. Our institute gathers ca. sixty researchers, and assistant/associate/full professors; ca. thirty engineers, technicians and administrative staff; as well as ca. fifty PhD students, Post-docs, and contractual lecturers and researchers. The staff’s expertise is pluridisciplinary and complementary in the fields of molecular chemistry, polymer science, solid-state chemistry, electrochemistry, metallurgy, and materials physics. The expertise domains of our institute cover both fundamental and applied research focused on three research axes: (i) materials for structures and energy, (ii) molecules, materials, and processes for environment and sustainability, and (iii) chemistry for healthcare at the interface with biomedicine. Moreover, ICMPE is strongly involved in the transfer of knowledge as its academic staff teaches in various Faculties attached to the Université Paris Est Créteil and Université d’Evry, at Bachelor and Master levels.
