East Africa Gate (EAGate) / EAGate Holdings SAS is thrilled to acknowledge the recent milestone in the #menstrualhygiene public-private dialogue project. The first steering committee meeting, led by H.E. Ergogie Tesfaye, Minister of Women and Social Affairs, and H.E. Mekdes Daba Feyssa, MD, MPH, Minister of Health, marked a significant step forward. The gathering of key stakeholders showcased the strength of the #PPD platform, a critical tool in overcoming identified challenges through collective effort. This initiative is a perfect complement to Ethiopia's homegrown economic reform (#HGER) program, emphasizing the role of the private sector in driving growth and creating jobs. Special thanks to the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) for their financing of this project under the PRCC initiative. We’re particularly proud of the project’s impact on millions of Ethiopian girls and women, improving not just their menstrual health but also their education, career opportunities, and social empowerment through support to private sector development. We also extend our gratitude to CARE and EiTEX Bahir Dar University for their support in the process. We will see all key stakeholders in the upcoming Forum of the PPD, looking forward to have you participating Women Economic Empowerment Africa, Mickal Mamo, Tsion Bahru Zewde, Mahlet Z R., and all others who have supported the initiative from the beginning, as well as our participants to the Discussion Groups, our technical platforms. We will meet again soon to push this forward ! የሴቶችና ማህበራዊ ጉዳይ ሚኒስቴር Ministry of Women and Social Affairs | Federal Ministry of Health Ethiopia | Margaux Chinal | Virginie Arnaud Le Pape | Louis-Antoine Souchet | Agence française de développement in Eastern Africa | Embassy of France in Ethiopia #MenstrualHygiene #PublicPrivateDialogue #Ethiopia #Empowerment #Health #Education #Careers #privatesectordevelopment
➡️ Important milestone for our public-private dialogue project on #menstrualhygiene, aiming at creating the conditions for a sustainable local value chain in 🇪🇹 for quality and affordable sanitary pads. Under the strong and vibrant leadership of H.E Ergogie Tesfaye, Minister of Women and Social Affairs and H.E Mekdes Daba Feyssa, MD, MPH, Minister of Health, this first steering committee brought together the main stakeholders involved in the public-private dialogue (PPD) platform, which proves to be an excellent tool with an efficient methodology to bring collective solutions to the identified bottlenecks and hurdles. This initiative is also well in line with the new homegrown economic reform (HGER) program focusing on unlocking private sector initiatives to create growth and jobs. This “small” (€2,5M) project is probably now the best-known in our portfolio in Ethiopia, even though together with our other MHH project in Adama (€3M) it only represents 1% of it. But it bears a positive impact for millions of Ethiopian girls and women, not only on their MH management and health, but also on their #education, #careers and social #empowerment. Special and well deserved acknowledgements were made to our now former ambassador Rémi Maréchaux, who worked hard since the beginning to make this project a reality. 👏🏼 ጎበዝ and 🙏🏼 በጣም አመግናለሁ to all our partners involved for their efforts, especially East Africa Gate (EAGate) in charge of the key role of Permanent Secretariat for the project, as well as CARE Ethiopia and EiTEX. Let’s keep up the good work for this very impactful project! የሴቶችና ማህበራዊ ጉዳይ ሚ/ር ገጽ Ministry of Women and Social Affair | Federal Ministry of Health Ethiopia Ministry of Health Margaux Chinal | Virginie Arnaud Le Pape | Olivier Poujade Agence française de développement in Eastern Africa Embassy of France in Ethiopia
