Existing regulations, such as European Regulation (EU) No. 139/2014, cover aerodrome safety but do not address AV-specific needs, leaving airports to navigate a complex set of rules. 📖 This regulatory gap complicates AV deployment, especially as airports face growing labor shortages and sustainability goals. While AVs like electric tow tractors can alleviate these pressures, the lack of clear guidelines leads to delays, inconsistencies, and increased operational challenges. To address these challenges, our joint venture with Alvest/TLD, TractEasy is engaging with regulators and industry forums to advocate for AV-specific standards. These include certification requirements, emergency protocols, and guidelines for vehicle-pedestrian interactions, ensuring safety and efficiency in airport operations. ✈️ Looking ahead, the development of universal standards is essential for AV adoption in airports.
