Farid Chenoune made the transmission of culture and the love of beauty the central thread of his career. A professor who has completed the agrégation, the highest level of teacher training in France, a fashion historian, journalist, exhibition curator, documentarian, and author, he left a lasting impact on generations of students and professionals, teaching them the crucial importance of cultivating an informed eye for the world around us. Teaching at the Institut Français de la Mode and the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs, Farid Chenoune shared his passion and knowledge with his students, encouraging them to explore the cultural and social implications of fashion. A prolific author, he wrote and co-authored several significant works, including Christian Dior (Assouline), Des modes et des hommes, une histoire de la mode masculine depuis la Révolution française (Flammarion), Le Cas du sac (Le Passage/Union Centrale des Arts Décoratifs), Les Dessous de la féminité (Assouline), and Yves Saint Laurent (La Martinière). These works have deepened our understanding of the history of fashion, positioning it at the intersection of social, political, and cultural history. Creation, particularly in fashion and Haute Couture, is primarily about the story of details and precision. This mirrors the work of Farid Chenoune, who explored and transmitted with rigor, respect, and a profoundly human perspective.

25 November marks a treasured French tradition by fashion Houses: Saint Catherine's Day, a celebration of youth, joy, and the transmission of exceptional savoir-faire. After in-depth discussions and surveys of the participants, a major decision was taken in 2022: to align the age of the ‘Catherinettes’ and ‘Nicolas’ at 25, and to remove the criterion of marital status. This year's ceremony was preceded by an inspiring round-table discussion on youth and commitment. Hosted by Karine Vergniol, it brought together historian Sophie Kurdjian, designers Victor Weinsanto and Jeanne Friot, as well as two Catherinettes, to explore this forward-looking theme. This was made only possible thanks to the commitment of the Mairie de Paris, Nicolas BONNET-OULALDJ and his dedicated team. Saint Catherine's Day is much more than just a traditional event. It's a celebration of youth and the future, a tribute to the people who work to make French fashion and Haute Couture flourish. It honours the young talents who, through their training, preserve and enrich this exceptional industry. Finally, it is an ode to Parisian fashion, a living heritage that inspires and unites all generations. ©Luc Bertrand Pascal Morand Karine Vergniol Jeanne Friot Nicolas Bonnet Oulaldj @Sophie Kurdjian @Victor Weinsanto #saintecatherine #parisfashionweek #tradition
