Who are the young people who now make up some of South Korea’s most committed #luxuryfashion aficionados? The East Asian country now spends close to $17 billion on #luxury goods each year, according to Morgan Stanley — despite having a population smaller than Kentucky. This far surpasses Chinese consumers’ per capita spending — and millennials and #GenZ are responsible for a sizeable chunk of that. As a growing number of #luxury fashion labels look to cement their status in the country, they’ll need to find a way to engage with its high-rolling youth. Here, Megan Tatum breaks down who exactly these young people are: https://lnkd.in/eVBUJAFN #SeoulFashionWeek photographed by Young Chul Kim.

CHAUMET, a 244-year-old brand renowned as Napoleon’s favourite jeweller has a new CEO. His name is Charles Leung, and he is already steering a #strategy refresh. Best known for tiaras, #Chaumet has taken a new tack this summer, designing the medals for the #Olympics. The Maison also presented a high #jewellery collection outside France for the first time this month, in Venice. What to infer from all this? “It means that we are opening our world and we will welcome a larger client base,” says Leung. As a serial entrepreneur, Sharmadean Reid MBE has many notches on her belt: #founder of WAH Nails, mastermind behind booking app Beautystack (which secured her place as the first Black woman in the UK to raise £1 million in #venturecapital funding), and founder of networking platform The Stack World. Now, she adds another accomplishment to her list: the author of a new book, “New Methods for Women”. When publisher Penguin Life first asked her to write a book, it was supposed to be a straight business bible. Instead, she wrote a manifesto for women, covering everything from healing trauma and controlling your media diet, to how to #negotiate and make people feel listened to. Bella Webb sat down with Reid to find out her motivation behind writing an intentionally unconventional business book. https://lnkd.in/diJaFm-J

Favoured by a-listers, including #DuaLipa, Christopher Esber, who founded his namesake brand in 2010, took home the Grand Prize, which includes €300,000 and a year's worth of mentoring in Paris yesterday. The win comes with a year’s worth of mentoring and a SWAROVSKI trophy designed by Anthony Vaccarello, creative director of Yves Saint Laurent, president of the 2024 Andam Prize jury, and winner of the top prize back in 2011. Breaking | LANVIN has appointed Peter Copping as artistic director, in charge of womenswear and menswear collections as well as leather goods and accessories. The seasoned designer, known for his feminine creations and time as creative director of Nina Ricci from 2009 to 2014 and of Oscar de la Renta (as de la Renta’s successor) from 2014 to 2016, will join the French heritage house in September. Amid a trend of hiring artistic directors with more curator profiles to oversee marketing and image, #Lanvin chose a couturier with technical expertise. “Peter Copping’s arrival at Lanvin is an important milestone in the renaissance of one of the great French maisons,” Siddhartha Shukla, deputy CEO of Lanvin, said in a statement on Thursday. “I am confident that with Peter’s vision and technical rigour and the continued perseverance of our teams globally, we will identify a new frontier in fashion and deliver beauty and results in equal measure.” Here, Laure Guilbault reports on everything to know.

Everything to know on Ganni A/S’s #sustainability-first business model. Last year, Danish #fashion darling #Ganni did what for most brands seems impossible. It reduced its absolute carbon emissions by 7% in 2023, according to its latest annual report. That’s a notable distinction from reducing emissions intensity, which merely means making individual products more efficient and is the far more common goal, and achievement, that we hear about in fashion. Successful sustainability strategies involve more than supply chain collaboration, though — they also demand introspective work. Rachel Cernansky discovers their strategy, here: https://lnkd.in/ebqx7NPK

Blockbuster #fashion shows from big brands jostled for the top slot this season, but a couple of independent labels managed to cut through during the menswear season. In this pre-Olympic season, six of the shows (and one presentation) took place in Paris. However, of the three shows that ran in Milan, two made the medals podium by being among the three most-viewed of the entire season. Read here to learn which house took gold: https://lnkd.in/ef-Eb6zy
