The Dust Doctoral Network project: Advancing research on atmospheric mineral dust ☁️ The Dust-DN project, the first doctoral network in Europe dedicated to atmospheric mineral dust, is funded under the Horizon Europe programme through Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions. Coordinated by CARE-C at The Cyprus Institute, the project aims to address key scientific and societal challenges related to atmospheric dust. The main objectives of Dust Doctoral Network are: 👉 To study the microphysical properties of dust 👉 To investigate the influence of source regions on atmospheric dust 👉 To assess impacts on health, aviation, and energy production 👉 To examine the role of dust in the climate system This initiative brings together 8 core partners and 15 associated partners from academia, research, and industry to train the next generation of scientists in atmospheric #dustresearch. As part of the consortium, GRASP Earth contributes to the project by advancing research on atmospheric dust and its impacts, supporting the development of innovative solutions to address these challenges. +Info about the project: https://lnkd.in/daAKj75T #GRASP #atmosphericdust #earthobservation #remotesensing #atmosphericscience #environmentalscience #scientificresearch
🌟CARE-C leads the way with Dust-DN! We are excited to announce that the Kick-off Meeting of the first doctoral network in Europe dedicated to atmospheric mineral dust (under the prestigious Horizon Europe programme) is scheduled for Monday 20 January 2025! The Dust-DN project, funded with €3.5M through Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, will train the next generation of scientists in atmospheric dust research while addressing critical societal and environmental challenges. 📌Key objectives of Dust-DN: 🔬Study the fundamentals of dust microphysical properties 🌍Explore the influence of source regions on atmospheric dust 🏥Assess socio-economic impacts on health, aviation, and energy production ☁Investigate dust’s role in the global climate system With 8 core partners and 15 associated partners from academia, research, and industry, Dust-DN brings together expertise from across Europe and beyond. 📅Kickoff meeting: 20 January 2025 📹The public section of the kick-off meeting is available as pre-recorded videos on our YouTube channel: https://lnkd.in/dftH43CP 🔗 Read more about the project and its goals: https://lnkd.in/daAKj75T University of Évora, National Observatory of Athens, NOA - ReACT, Barcelona Supercomputing Center, University of Reading, PMOD/WRC, HARMONIA COST - CA21119, Claire Ryder, Franco Marenco, Stelios Kazadzis, Vassilis Amiridis
