Celebrations were in order to mark Korea's delivery of the fourth vacuum vessel sector for the ITER fusion machine. The celebrations also marked the delivery of the first of the the remaining five sectors by Europe. Present at the ceremony were members of the ITER Council, representatives of the EU and Korean domestic agencies, and manufacturing industries, as well as technical teams of ITER. How can the progress towards commercial fusion deployment be accelerated? A panel of fusion experts said international cooperation is key. They listed several fields which would benefit from joining efforts internationally such as: fusion industry standardization; material testing; development of global markets and supply chains; data sharing and storage as well as the development of a skilled workforce. The panel was chaired by ITER Deputy DG Luo Delong and included: Sehila Gonzales of the Clean Air Task Force; Jose Aguilar of IMIF DONES; Andrew Smith of the American Nuclear Society; Gale Hauck of the Oakridge National Laboratory; and Anders Wulff of SUBRA. #ITER #cleanenergy #fusionenergy #IFMIF-DONES #materialscience #scienceforsociety
