We are pleased to announce MAURIC's involvement in a significant new naval project. MERRE and MAURIC won the tender from French Ministry of Defense (DGA) fo the design and building of 1 (+1 in option) specific Multipurpose Workboat for operations in French naval bases. Our team will be responsible for both general and detailed design studies of this new “Chalands de Travaux Portuaires - CTP”. This vessel, measuring 27.7 metres in length and 12.6 metres in beam, will feature a 30-tonne bollard pull, two(2) knuckle boom cranes and accommodation for up to 16 personnel. The first unit is scheduled for delivery in late 2026, and the second unit potentially in 2027. In early 2025, autonomy tests and integration trials for the systems produced in 2024 will be conducted together with the mothership Oostende in Lorient, France. These critical steps will ensure that the systems are fully operational and mission-ready by mid-2025. The first Toolbox—featuring our drones and a C2 container—will be delivered to the Belgian Navy in Q3 2025. We are proud to support the Belgian and Royal Netherlands navies in building their Mine Countermeasures (#MCM) capabilities. Making history: The Neoliner Origin takes to the water today at RMK Marine shipyard. At 136 meters, this isn't just another cargo vessel - it's a glimpse into the future of maritime transport. With a 5,300-ton cargo capacity and powered by two 1,500m² Solid Sails, she will cross the Atlantic with 80% less fuel consumption than conventional vessels. From concept to reality: Years of engineering, thousands of calculations, and one clear mission - to revolutionize cargo shipping through wind propulsion. This August, she'll begin her first commercial journey from Saint-Nazaire to Baltimore. Starting 2025 with strategic maritime innovation! The SOCARENAM-MAURIC consortium kicks off the year by securing a significant DGAMPA contract to design and build their next-generation offshore patrol vessel, showcasing the finest of French naval engineering. Setting new standards in sustainable maritime solutions, this 54-metre OPV combines advanced hybrid and wind-assisted propulsion technology, transforming the approach to maritime surveillance vessels. Fabrice Ghozlan, MAURIC Sales and Business Development Director, presented the project on January 10th, 2024, in the presence of Agnès Pannier-Runacher, French Minister of Ecological Transition, Biodiversity, Forests, Sea and Fisheries. Milestone Announcement: Keel Laying Ceremony MAURIC Managing Director : François Sébilo, attended the keel laying ceremony at ARMON shipyard on 10 December, 2024, marking a significant milestone for the first of six passenger catamarans commissioned for Morlenn Express's fleet renewal programme. MAURIC is proud to partner with SOGESTRAN and ARMON, providing the shipyard with the full basic design package for these 400 pax catamarans. Our naval architects have engineered extensive hull optimisations that will ensure efficient and environmentally friendly operations of these new vessels. The high-performance aluminium vessels will be delivered between 2026 and 2028. MAURIC is committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety and efficiency in designing passenger catamarans. Last week the first and very successful WiSP3 face-to-face meeting took place at MARIN, discussing the progress and way forward with the 34 participants. This meeting was held as part of the Vessel Operator Forum, enabling excellent networking opportunities. 🌬️ Wind propulsion is expected to be boosting 💥 the coming years in view of the decarbonization of the maritime industry. Transparent performance predictions, using validated tools and clear rules and regulations are key to the success of wind propulsion.
