"The 2024 Impact Report is here 🌿" This year, we took a novel approach by creating a “London Case Study”: training the spotlight on our 26 pocket forests across the city and illustrating the essence of greening cities and reimagining urban life.
The Rewilding Generation has blossomed further with the winners of our 3rd SUGi Fellowship representing the next generation of forest makers in 5 countries. Our annual SUGi x Nava photography contest saw 10,061 entries from 970 photographers around the world. With SUGi Walks in London, we inaugurated a summer series of weekend rewilding tours of our Central London forests, further extending our ties into the community.
A stand-out moment in 2024 was the planting of our first pocket forest in Manhattan: our 200th. The historic event was featured in the New York Times; within 72 hrs we reached 230 million people and 400 volunteering slots booked out in 12 hours. Talk about symbiosis!
We absolutely could not have accomplished this without our brilliant forest makers, strategic collaborators, generous partners, and the communities themselves!
With profound gratitude from all of us at SUGi 💚
Special thank you to Jennifer Rae Pierce, COO, UBHub, Jacob Heitland, Director of Climate Action, Newham Council, and Dima Zogheib, Landscape designer, ARUP for their contribution to the London Case Study.
