As Cyril Derreumaux prepares for his upcoming trans-Atlantic kayak expedition in December 2024, we’re diving deeper into the incredible details of his journey and the custom-designed craft that will carry him across 3,000 miles of open ocean.    The Expedition  Route: From the Canary Islands to Martinique.  Duration: Estimated 75 days to cover 4,800 kilometers (2,800 nautical miles).  Challenges: The first 15 days are expected to be the toughest—sea sickness, sleep deprivation, adjusting to freeze-dried food, and finding a rhythm of 10+ hours of daily paddling. Daily Routine:  Paddle at sunrise for 4-5 hours.  Break for lunch.  Another 4-5 hours of paddling before sunset.  Overnight checks every 2 hours to ensure safety.  Diet: 4,000 calories/day, primarily from freeze-dried meals, high-calorie bars, and supplements by Standard Process. Despite this, Cyril is expected to lose 20-25 lbs. The Craft  Design: A 7-meter-long carbon/epoxy composite “ocean kayak” engineered for strength, lightweight efficiency, and safety.  Survival Pod: The fully sealable, self-righting cabin doubles as a safety haven in rough seas.  Propulsion: Dual systems—a kayak paddle and Hobie-style Mirage pedal system—allow Cyril to alternate muscle groups for sustained energy.  Weight: 80 kg (176 lbs.) empty, 800 lbs. fully loaded.    Stay tuned for more updates as Cyril embarks on this incredible journey!  #KayakTheAtlantic #Innovation #Ocergy #Sustainability #Adventure #HumanPowered

We are happy to announce that this year we have the support from Ocergy Inc and Ocergie SAS to our agroecological agroforestry program Jussara in Bahia, Brazil. The leader of floating wind offshore farms has decided to purchase climate contributions to compensate 45 tons of CO2e emitted by the air transport of its staff to the annual team gathering. In the biodiversity hotspot of Atlantic Forest, in Brazil, under the tropical sun and rains, we engage in planting 411 native trees that shall be taken care in agroecological family farms during 30 years supporting climate mitigation, food security and sociobiodiversity maintenance. As Ubá, we are thankfull for the trust and we would like to celebrate Ocergy's remarkable work on renewables and on its internal ecological transition. 🌊 Ocergy had an incredible experience at the Salon du Littoral - Enjeux Méditerranéens this past week, where we joined a thought-provoking roundtable on offshore wind projects in the Mediterranean. Our team, represented by Guillaume Ardoise, presented insights from the OCG-Data platform, which has been monitoring biodiversity 30 km off Leucate for two years. The results highlight the platform's exceptional stability—allowing precise avian radar readings—and reveal a thriving, diverse underwater ecosystem captured through our cameras. We were also inspired by OW Ocean Winds, with Thomas BORDRON sharing updates on anchor placements for offshore turbines, and RTE with #HélèneClaudel presenting findings from the CEMFISH project on electromagnetic effects on young fish. Not to mention Gilles Lecaillon from ECOCEAN and their #Connexstere project, which has provided valuable biodiversity insights after four years of monitoring. Together, these studies offer encouraging data on how offshore projects can harmonize with marine life. Great news for Culzean Floating Wind Project. We have had the first raw material delivery ahead of the floater manufacturing at Lykomitros Steel S.A.. These are the V-beams pipes joining the Bottom Beam and Top Beam. Well done Archer Wind on this excellent milestone
