I figured since staying up-to-date on social media and content news is already a huge part of my job, and I relay the information in my monthly newsletter with PlayPlay, I might as well drop the knowledge here on LinkedIn because frankly I don’t like to gate-keep information and insights, I do like to yap, and my team is supporting me in this endeavor. A lot more happened in January as you ALL know, but here are a couple of quick insights that may impact your strategy. I won’t get annoyed when receiving unsolicited advice from other teams. 12. I will stop using terms like “reach,” “views,” and “engagement” to explain my job to my family. 13. I will stop using stock footage and start filming real footage for more authenticity. 14. I will strive to make my boss understand that social media is not just about leads. 15. I will no longer pressure the tech team to appear in our corporate videos. 16. I will make sure I understand Gen Z slang before using it in my posts. 17. I will embrace the simplicity of PlayPlay for creating my videos. 18. I will stop begrudgingly proofreading employee advocacy posts. 19. I will not take passive-aggressive comments on TikTok to heart. 20. I will remind everyone that my job is more than “just making Reels.” 21.
