𝗔𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝘁𝘀? 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗱𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻! Kenneth Möllersten from IVL & KTH Royal Institute of Technology sheds some light on this highly discussed. At Riverse, it's also a key element of our strategy to accelerate decarbonization, as we issue both: #Removal Carbon Credits to support the scaling of biomass carbon removal and storage, as well as enhanced rock weathering projects, and #Avoidance Carbon Credits for Bioenergy, Circular Economy or Low Carbon Construction. Of course, scaling removal capacities is key to face the inevitable unabatable emissions, and we are in a race against time on this topic. But what if? What if financing avoiding one ton of CO2 can also be done in the short-term, and come with massive social and environmental co-benefits. Naturally, this must be accompanied by clear methodologies, #MRV solutions, and robust #quantification frameworks, but this topic is already being tackled by all the new entrants in the #VCM. As always in #decarbonization, the carbon credit solution is not Removal 𝗢𝗥 Avoidance, but Removal 𝗔𝗡𝗗 Avoidance! What are your thoughts on that? Link of the study in comments.
