Discover Rovial Space's Innovative Thermal Management Solutions! Effective thermal management is crucial for high-power space applications, as temperature control directly impacts spacecraft reliability. Traditional satellites rely on North/South radiators and passive systems like heat pipes or active systems such as mechanical pump loops to manage heat. Our team at Rovial Space has pioneered a groundbreaking solution: inflatable radiators! These radiators leverage the system's gaseous mixture, eliminating the need for traditional heat exchangers. As the gas flows through the radiator, its temperature decreases before re-entering the turbine compartment or pressurized payload module. This advanced system is not only 10 times lighter than standard thermal control solutions but also optimizes radiator volume under the fairing. However, we face a significant challenge: micrometeoroids. These tiny space particles can puncture the radiators, affecting their efficiency. To overcome this, Rovial Space employs autonomous robotic solutions to monitor and repair punctures in real-time. This ensures our radiators maintain optimal performance despite the harsh space environment. Even with the addition of repair robots and extra gas reserves, our inflatable radiators remain significantly lighter and more cost-effective than current industry standards. Exciting News from Luxembourg! 🌌 This week, our CTO for Robotics and AI, Dr Amit Kumar Pandey (Ph.D.), is actively participating in the International Conference on Space Robotics (https://www.isparo.space) in Luxembourg. This prestigious event brings together leading experts from academia, space agencies, and the space industry to discuss the latest advancements and future trends in space robotics and applications. Our concept of the RISER robot (https://lnkd.in/dRNcp4ny) well received by the community here, showcasing Rovial Space's dedication to fostering innovation and a collaborative ecosystem for space robotics. Dr. Pandey's participation exemplifies this commitment, as he also contributes to a key session by euRobotics aisbl focusing on strategic planning and upcoming activities in the space robotics community. Notably, multi-limb walking robots (like RISER) are also recognized as essential for planetary applications (in addition to in-orbit services) and power generation systems, such as those on the Moon. Dr. Pandey is also engaged in discussions and sharing experiences on topics such as zero-gravity robotics testbeds, key challenges in space robotics, scientific advancements, mission-level aspects including space robot design and development, perception, planning, and control. Several potential synergies for collaboration and innovation to strengthen the EU ecosystem has been discussed. Additionally, the assembly of large modular orbiting structures is highlighted as one of the key requirements for the space era. INTRODUCING RISER, OUR FIRST AI-ENABLED ROBOT PROTOTYPE! We’ve successfully completed the ground prototype version of several modular units and functional demos of our robot performing tasks related to mission needs.    Our RISER robot, a multi-limb walking robot completely designed and built in-house, can navigate different parts of a structure. Its real-time perception system gathers environmental data, identifies structural changes, and dynamically plans actions autonomously. This allows it to adapt to various structures and provides mission redundancy, reducing the risk of failure. Our next milestone is qualifying and testing the robot in high orbit space and designing new modules to expand its capabilities for various tasks.    Ever wonder what the name RISER means and what RISER is capable of?
