Posters are boring 👎 So how can you explain complex concepts and engage local communities in a fun way? This is how we did it 👇 Our objective: make the concept of #PositiveEnergyDistricts #PEDs accessible and exciting for local communities in Istanbul, where the NEUTRALPATH project has a pilot site. We organised an Open Day in the pilot area during which we facilitated: 👉 Interactive learning: We hosted a gaming session where families and children got hands-on with our educational game, building their own PEDs and giving us valuable feedback to improve it. 👉 Immersive exploration: We designed an interactive totem that allowed visitors to explore the concept of PEDs and see how it applies to Istanbul in a fun and accessible way. 👉 Stakeholder dialogue: We engaged in open discussions with local stakeholders, sharing NeutralPath's objectives and the long-term benefits of PEDs for the community. These activities not only educated but also empowered the community, giving them a sense of ownership and involvement in shaping their district’s future. We’re all #Millennials at Three o'clock, but we have a thing for #GenZ 😬 After months of preparation, we held our first workshop at IES Pirineos in Jaca, a high school in Northern Spain with 32 students aged 13 to 18 years old, as part of our #NEXTGENCARBON project with Idílica Innovación. This immersive and participatory experience allowed them to explore the future and take concrete actions to reduce their carbon footprint 👣 During the session, led in Spanish and French, Esti Sanvicente and Carla Barceló Sàbat carried out four interactive activities: 👉 Climate quiz: Students engaged in a quiz that addressed fundamental questions about the causes and consequences of climate change, as well as the importance of reducing carbon emissions. 👉 Interactive workshop: To help teens understand the science behind climate change, we facilitated a #ClimateFresk workshop 👉 Carbon Footprint Calculator: Students tested the calculator we developed to measure their environmental impact in a fun and engaging way. 👉 Action Plan: At the end of the workshop, they were invited to reflect on their carbon footprint and proposed concrete actions they could implement everyday. Small actions can lead to big impact! Our key takeaway? Building bridges and bringing people together is one of the best ways to design better, more #SustainableCities ✅ But how do we ensure that the solutions we create are truly effective? 🤔 👉 Last week, Olga Glumac, Ph.D. and Nicole Ramírez led a #ParticipatoryDesign workshop at the Universidade de Coimbra as part of their #SustainabilityDays. During the workshop, they collaborated with local stakeholders like Cleanwatts, Instituto Pedro Nunes, and INESC Coimbra to co-create solutions for the city’s energy needs. This hands-on approach brought together participants from the municipality, industry, and partners from several countries, generating ideas grounded in real-world problems. 👉 This week, in Sweden, they facilitated an industry-academia meeting that included a panel on district heating—a critical issue as cities move toward more sustainable energy systems. Through group discussions, participants explored how cross-sector collaboration can drive such changes in cities. Later, they led a #ClimateSprint with Halmstad University students, digging into the science of #ClimateChange and setting personal action plans to reduce carbon footprints. Both of these workshops are part of the RES4CITY project, which is addressing the growing skills gap in the renewable energy sector. ☝️Why is this important? Because as demand for green energy solutions grows, so does the need for skilled professionals to implement them. Summer holidays or when ‘work-life balance’ really means balancing a laptop on your knees while making sandcastles 🏖️ We made it! The summer holidays are finally behind us, and all of us #WorkingParents deserve a huge Margarita 🍸 With schools closed for up to 10 weeks and a lack of camps for kids or childcare, balancing work and family becomes a huge task. It’s no wonder that 75% of working parents report feeling more stressed during this period. That’s why we’re big on flexibility at Three o'clock during the summer. Connection times and longer lunches or breaks are open to make sure everyone can stay on top of work and family, without dropping the ball on either, and still stay productive.
