My first year in 🇺🇸! A truly blessed year. I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to Andre Teixeira MD, FACS, FASMBS for making this journey possible, for his partnership, friendship, coaching, and inspiring leadership. Orlando Health leadership has embraced and supported our projects, allowing them to thrive and expand. Bariatric Research is now a living reality in our institution, with ongoing FDA studies positioning us at the forefront of innovation. The year 2024 has been remarkable, with achievements that not only met but often exceeded expectations. It was a privilege to attend the PCS Conference 2024 and an even greater honor to hear Dr. Nazir’s inspiring lecture on bariatric surgery. As a mentor and distinguished alumnus of OLFU College of Medicine, Dr. Nazir’s insights into this transformative field resonated deeply, reinforcing the importance of innovation in improving patient care and quality of life. I was truly honored to serve as the student representative at the Alumni Doctors' Forum hosted by OLFU, where my mentor, Dr. Nazir, delivered an engaging lecture on the impact of obesity surgery on cancer risk reduction. The panel discussion provided me with an invaluable opportunity to discuss career pathways and gain actionable insights from Dr. Sharique Nazir, MD, FACS, FICS,FASMBS on transitioning to the US healthcare system. His guidance on maneuvering career challenges and leveraging global opportunities was both inspiring and practical for someone aspiring to contribute to international healthcare.
