Thanks Bob Fine for the post and clarification. Our wish for the New Year is that #virtualreality #vr #xr takes it rightful place in #healthcare and #medicine or #therapeutics and IVRHA (International Virtual Reality and Healthcare Association) is certainly the grand bearer of that hope! Wait!? What!? Hold the phone! So, i've never publicly come out and said anything along these lines before, but today i'm going to come out and take some credit for a change. VR/AR Association (VRARA) and IVRHA (International Virtual Reality and Healthcare Association) started at similar times a number of years ago now, and occasionally there is still confusion among people about the two organizations. I'm going to take some personal credit today for being creative and innovative in how we've done events over the years and tried to engage and educate the wider population about the opportunities in VR and AR, specifically just focused on #healthcare for #IVRHA. We're not trying to be all things to all people. When we did our Tech Transfer conference a few years ago, and had a number of universities present, it was good to see VRARA follow suit with a similar event, also focused on universities. As we've experimented with our VR Healthcare road show tour starting two years ago, it was interesting to see the announcement today for VRARA's 2025 National Roadshow (see below). The saying goes something like: "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery." So, I take it all in that respect and in good stride. At the core of it, competition is good, even among associations and events. It forces differentiation and innovation. There's always going to be competition. And as/if more VR/AR related associations or events come around, usually that's a sign of a healthy growing market. And when and where it makes sense, we partner with other organizations such as AWE, Stereopsia, VRDays Foundation (Immersive Tech Week) and American Telemedicine Association. With that, i'll use this opportunity to wish everyone in the community a happy and healthy holiday and new year. Do take a look at our upcoming 2nd Annual VR Healthcare #Hackathon at Ringling College of Art and Design: https://lnkd.in/ejWesX6z And check out the big XR Women event coming up that will be co-located with the hackathon: https://lnkd.in/ei3J3zP2 And our 9th (yes, 9th!) 🌀 De la VR contre la douleur ? Vraiment ?!

These are still early days for the quality of #mentalhealth apps. Denise Silber was wondering if Novobeing could connect with ORCHA Liz Ashall-Payne and see if there are some easy improvements for your apps.
Co-Founder @ Novobeing | Transforming Healthcare with Virtual & Mixed Reality 🥽 | Pioneering Disruptive Technologies
The Truth About Mental Health Apps: Why 96% of Users Don’t Stick Around, and what needs to change. Five years ago, I launched my first digital mental health app. It gained tens of thousands of users, but there was a problem: they didn’t stick around. We tried gamification, redesigns, push notifications—you name it. Yet, our daily active users remained stubbornly low. Our struggle wasn’t unique. Research shows that 96% of people who download a mental health app stop using it within just 15 days. This isn’t just a user experience challenge; it’s a wake-up call for the entire industry. The digital mental health field has spent years wrestling with the engagement problem—and progress has been slow. But here’s the thing: the problem isn’t content. It’s experience. Think about the apps and platforms people love to spend time on—games like Roblox and Fortnite. These platforms aren’t just apps; they’re immersive, engaging experiences. They offer personalization, fun, and a sense of progress that makes people want to come back again and again. Why shouldn’t mental health apps do the same? Today at Novobeing, we’re rewriting the playbook and learning from the past. Our approach combines the personalization and engagement of gaming with the transformative potential of mental health support. Imagine a fully embodied, interactive experience that adapts to your unique needs while you are fully immersed in VR. Our solution integrates gamification, biofeedback, and upcoming mobile support. Users track progress, see tangible results, and engage with tools designed specifically for them and their unique condition. And the results? One of our clinical trials showed unprecedented engagement: 70% of users completed the program. This is the future of digital mental health. Not another app to download and forget, but an experience to immerse yourself in—a tool that works with you to meet your goals in both the real and virtual worlds. We’re building this for hospital-bound patients at Novobeing But the potential applications are limitless! Let’s stop trying to solve today’s problems with yesterday’s solutions. It’s time to innovate, to create, and to reimagine what digital mental health can be. #DigitalHealth #MentalHealth #UserEngagement #TechInnovation

As Denise Silber noted after the session, the topic of #upskilling professionals with #vr took us all around #healthcare : We spoke of training students, doing #simulations, reducing #burnout for professionals, introducing better #communications skills for use with #patients and amongst care teams, treating #pain, #anxiety, for #rehab…” Thank you to all the panelists at #htf24
"VR is a tool I wish I had as a medical student for training. If you can prepare for a first-time scenario and perform better in real life, it benefits everyone involved." – Dr Jonathan Fenn, Academic Lecturer in Extended Reality | Simulation Fellow at NHS. Today's panel on VR in medical upskilling made one thing clear: VR is a like, a really big deal for healthcare. From cutting costs to improving care and making training more immersive, its potential is undeniable. The challenge, though? Convincing tight-budgeted institutions to invest. The solution? Innovation, integration, and hands-on demos. Shout-out to other super cool panelists: • Denise Silber from Basil Strategies • Devi Kolli from i3 Simulations • Jose Ferrer Costa from Badalona Serveis Assistencials What's your take – are we ready to embrace VR in healthcare?
