From Anxiety to Thriving: Emma's Story (World Kindness Day) Meet Emma – a conveyancing clerk who, on the outside, seemed to have it all together. But secretly, she was battling lifelong anxiety rooted in childhood trauma. She was overwhelmed by the fear that history would repeat itself, constantly replaying past mistakes and imagining worst-case scenarios. Despite trying everything – meditation, therapy, even antidepressants – Emma found no lasting relief. At work, she was highly skilled, but anxiety made her second-guess herself constantly. Small decisions felt overwhelming, and she couldn’t shake the worry that she was failing. No one knew the internal battle she was facing. It wasn’t just affecting her work. She was disconnected from herself and others, always preoccupied with the “what-ifs.” She felt stuck in a cycle, unable to break free. Then Emma reached out to me. Together, we worked to uncover the root causes of her anxiety and let go of the past stories that kept her trapped. In just a few months, her transformation was remarkable. The anxiety that once controlled her began to fade. At work, she regained her confidence, made decisions with clarity, and took on new challenges she once feared. She was no longer paralyzed by self-doubt. Her relationships deepened, and she started reconnecting with her passions and dreams. Today, on ‘World Kindness Day’, I want to celebrate Emma’s kindness to herself. She chose to take the brave step of seeking help, releasing the weight of the past, and prioritising her well-being. Emma’s story reminds us that true transformation starts with kindness – to ourselves first. On this ‘World Kindness Day’, I encourage you to be kind to yourself. If you're ready to make a change, I'm here to help you start your journey. Leave a comment or DM me to begin your transformation today. #anxiety #childhoodtrauma #healthtransformation #lettinggo #worldkindnessday #harmoniance #mentalhealth #selflove #kindness

Today is World Kindness Day, an international observance launched on November 13, 1998. It’s a day dedicated to promoting and celebrating acts of kindness and the art of being helpful, generous, and considerate without expecting anything in return. Given the stress of the polarizing election cycle (now finally behind us) and a world in constant turmoil, I’m confident I’m not alone in believing that we need more acts of kindness more of the time. Studies show that performing acts of kindness improves our happiness and well-being—physically, cognitively, and emotionally. Kindness boosts serotonin and dopamine, two neurotransmitters that light up the pleasure-reward center of the brain. The world we live in is extremely fast-paced and, frankly, can feel a bit overwhelming. Given the pace of change and the speed at which we are inundated with information, it’s only natural to become stressed and over-stimulated at times. In those moments, we can get caught up in ourselves, lose sight of the good in the world, and have trouble recognizing kindness in action. Even so, it’s important to pause and think about what others might need. We also must remember that we are not alone, and we live in a world where good does exist. Like a pebble thrown into water, an act of kindness has a ripple effect. Sometimes we’ll see that effect immediately, but more often we are not aware of, or don’t fully appreciate, the far-reaching, positive impact one act of kindness has on a person, thing, or community. On this day and every day, let’s commit to being the best version of ourselves and make the choice to give more than we get. By cultivating a culture of kindness in our personal and professional lives, we enhance our own well-being and contribute to a world that is much kinder and far more compassionate. I believe that’s a world we’d all prefer. So, please, smile and be kind—it costs you nothing but can be priceless to those around you! St Mary's Healthcare Amsterdam

In light of Kindness Day SG, an initiative to promote kindness in Singapore, let's take a moment to delve into the true meaning of care. Inspired by Ron Kaufman's concept of "Careology," we can see that care is not just about actions but a profound commitment to improving the lives of those around us. Care is about deeply understanding and valuing others, fostering relationships built on empathy and trust. Here are three practical tips to integrate care into our daily lives: 1. 𝐋𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐲: When someone speaks, listen with the intent to understand, not just to reply. Empathize with their feelings and perspectives. This simple act can make people feel truly heard and valued. 2. 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Take time to acknowledge and thank people for their efforts and contributions. Whether it's a colleague, friend, or family member, expressing gratitude fosters a positive environment and strengthens relationships. 3. 𝐁𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭: In our busy lives, it's easy to get distracted. Make a conscious effort to be fully present in your interactions. Put away your phone, maintain eye contact, and engage sincerely with those around you. By embracing these simple principles of care, we can create a ripple effect of kindness and compassion. This Kindness Day SG, let's commit to making care a fundamental part of our lives, building communities where everyone feels valued and supported. There's no better time than now to start. #KindnessDaySG #Careology #RonKaufman #Empathy #Appreciation #BePresent #KindnessInAction
