A busy November month for our Gattefossé Asia Pacific Affiliate! On November 14th, our colleagues held a technical seminar in East Java and attracted nearly 50 researchers from universities and pharmaceutical companies. They addressed the use of lipid-based excipients for oral bioavailability enhancement, sustained release, lubrication, topical and transdermal applications. They had the privilege of collaborating with Dr Woo-Heon Song, an experienced pharmaceutical consultant from South Korea, who presented powder compaction analysis and demonstrated the benefits of Compritol® 888 ATO and Precirol® ATO 5 as lubricants. Then, from November 26th to 28th, we participated in the Annual Meeting and International Conference of the Korean Society of Pharmaceutical Science and technology in Seoul, where we hosted a booth exhibition and showcased our range of functional excipients to improve oral drug bioavailability. About 500 pharmaceutical R&D formulators, university professors and PhD students participated. 🌟Exciting new insights on Gelucire® and its role in bioavailability enhancement! In this new article published by the University of Bologna (Italy), the researchers studied the impact of different concentrations of Gelucire® on ketoprofen amorphous and crystalline solubility. Results indicate that with the use of Gelucire® at concentrations above 50 µg/mL, the crystalline and amorphous solubilities of ketoprofen gradually increased. Furthermore, the Gelucire® micelles inhibit ketoprofen recrystallization from the supersaturated solution for over 6 hours! Last month, Gattefossé Brazil participated in the VII ABCF Congress in Florianópolis, Brazil - the Congress of the Brazilian Pharmaceutical Sciences Association. During the event, showcasing strong lab teamwork from our headquarters, Paulo Cunha, Technical Coordinator Pharmaceuticals - South and Central America, presented a poster entitled "Bigels: Case Studies of an Innovative Topical Dosage Form." The poster introduced the concept of developing more user-friendly and acceptable pharmaceutical topical formulations, presenting three different textures and formulations of bigels to the evaluators and audience. In November, the Gattefossé Pharmaceuticals teams from Germany, France and BeNeLux joined forces to host over 20 customers for an in-person seminar in Germany. 👩🔬👨🔬 Spread over two half days, we delved into the scientific intricacies of lipid-based formulations, focusing on their potential for Bioavailability Enhancement (BAE) of different kinds of molecules and innovative strategies to overcome challenges such as intestinal permeation. Key topics included the role of Medium-Chain Fatty Acid Esters (MCFEs) as intestinal permeation enhancers and the use of nanocarriers like Solid Lipid Nanoparticles (SLN) and Nanostructured Lipid Carriers (NLC). 🌟 Highlights from the seminar featured expert insights 👀 from Caroline Bauer, PhD, CLAUDIA GAMA and Philippe CAISSE, case studies demonstrating successful applications 💊, and discussions on the latest advancements in pharmacokinetics and clinical trials. On the first day’s evening the attendees even solved a 🕵️♀️ mysterious murder 🕵️♂️ and thrilling riddles 👁🗨.
