📢 Just released! IDDC Statement "Governments must take decisive action on disability-inclusive international cooperation" We live in difficult times. The global landscape of international cooperation is under significant strain due to cuts in Official Development Assistance (ODA) and Foreign Assistance, the rise of anti-diversity and exclusionary narratives, and a shrinking civil society space. ▶️ Impact of roll-back on aid commitments and inclusion initiatives Disability-inclusive programmes are now being lost. Budget cuts and changes of focus are leading to reduced funding for essential programmes and initiatives that support persons with disabilities, exacerbating existing inequalities, exclusion and marginalisation. Local organisations of persons with disabilities that are working towards locally owned and sustainable solutions are also in danger. Millions of persons with disabilities, who are among the most marginalised in society, may be further deprived of assistance from both their governments and international development and humanitarian organisations. This puts the gains made on disability inclusion in recent years at immediate risk. ▶️ Civil Society will hold the line on human rights and inclusion As a CSO network comprising a diverse membership—including INGOs, organisations of persons with disabilities, national networks, and international member-based networks— IDDC remains committed to its collective objective of promoting inclusive international development and humanitarian action in line with the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the Sustainable Development Goals.   ▶️ Governments must lead on disability inclusion. We urge governments to take immediate and sustained action to ensure that disability inclusion remains a priority in international cooperation:  ✔ Assert publicly - and with actionable steps - your commitment to disability inclusion. The upcoming Global Disability Summit provides an immediate opportunity for this. ✔ Advocate for disability inclusion and rights in upcoming multilateral fora. ✔ Safeguard funding for disability inclusion in development and humanitarian programmes. ✔ Integrate disability inclusion in all programmes and policies, and provide guidance and training to staff and programme implementers on disability rights ✔ Sustain your support to civil society organisations, and organisations of persons with disabilities, in their roles of advocating for and implementing disability inclusion We need each other to create a future where no one is left behind! 🚨 Humanitarian Action at a Crossroad: Why the EU must boost funding in the next MFF🚨 The EU has long been a global humanitarian leader, yet only 1% of its long-term budget is allocated to humanitarian aid. With soaring needs and chronic underfunding, this is simply not enough. As the debate on the next Multiannual Financial Framework (2028-2035) unfolds, VOICE is calling on the EU and its Member States to: ✅ Preserve a dedicated budget line for humanitarian assistance ✅ Allocate at least €18.2 billion over seven years ✅ Maintain the Emergency Aid Reserve with at least €600 million annually ✅ Increase national contributions to strengthen EU humanitarian response We must prioritize people over politics and ensure life-saving aid reaches those in crisis. 🛑 Read our full statement ➡️https://lnkd.in/endDYi6D

💡 #RehabMatters In Colombia, non-state armed groups are still active, and mine incidents attributed to them have increased by 30% since 2021.  In conflict settings, persons living in rural areas face increasing challenges to access healthcare and rehabilitation services.    As a paramilitary group took control of their village, Gloria and her son with disabilities were forcibly displaced to a bigger city. Despite having better access to #rehabilitation services than in their previous rural setting, the waiting list remains very long, and significant disruptions were experienced during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.    👉 Action is needed to ensure that people with ongoing health and rehabilitation needs have continuous access to essential services in conflict-affected areas.       This is Gloria’s story ⤵️

En 2024, 50 conflits ont éclaté à travers le monde. Une personne sur sept en a subi les conséquences : déplacements forcés, faim, blessures, handicaps… Aujourd’hui, près de 300 millions de personnes ont besoin d’une aide humanitaire. Et pourtant, celle-ci diminue dans de nombreux pays. Très récemment, les États-Unis ont suspendu une grande partie de leur aide étrangère, mettant en péril des millions de vies. Ces dernières années, j’ai eu la chance de travailler aux côtés de nos collaborateurs et collaboratrices dans de nombreux pays, comme la Colombie, le Bangladesh, la Jordanie. Du jour au lendemain, faute de financements, certains de ces projets ont dû s’arrêter. Et avec eux, l’accès aux soins et à la réhabilitation pour des milliers de personnes. 📖 Read the new policy brief from the World Rehabilitation Alliance "Rehabilitation: A Key Strategy in Addressing Non-Communicable Diseases", to which Handicap International - Humanité & Inclusion contributed. #Rehabilitation is critical to improving the health and well-being of people living with various health conditions, including non-communicable diseases (#NCDs). As the global prevalence of people living with NCDs increases, so does the need for rehabilitation. Health systems worldwide therefore need to increase investment in quality rehabilitation services and make them accessible as a matter of #HealthForAll.

Un conflit bien loin de nos frontières par exemple peut entraîner une augmentation des prix des matières premières et augmenter nos factures, pousser la population à choisir l’exil...
