Who else attended Enlit Europe 2024 in Milan last week? I had the privilege of inaugurating the event with a keynote speech, delving into how electrification, digitalization, and automation play pivotal roles in shaping a more sustainable and competitive Europe. 💡 Furthermore, I had the honor of participating in a panel session alongside Ana Lafuente, Duarte Bello, Paolo Gallo, Gianni Vittorio Armani, and Greg Jackson. Together, we delved deeper into the challenges and opportunities presented by the energy transition and Europe's competitiveness. The EU finds itself at a crucial juncture in its climate policy journey, and the latest International Energy Agency (IEA) World Energy Outlook 2024 demonstrates Europe's potential to lead the clean energy transition. We are witnessing substantial growth in renewables, a reduction in energy prices, a projected decline in oil and gas demand, and an increase in electric vehicle adoption. However, for Europe to sustain its momentum and cement its position as a climate leader, it is imperative to prioritize investment in new energy systems, such as battery storage, microgrids, and DERs, and nurture a thriving ecosystem of startups to drive innovation. We are on the right path, but there is still more work to be done.
