Hail Mary Lyrics
[Intro: 2Pac]
Makaveli in this, Killuminati
All through your body
The blow is like a 12-Gauge shotty
Uh, feel me!
(Come with me; Hail Mary, nigga, run quick, see)
And God said he should send his one begotten son
(What do we have here now? Do you wanna ride or die?)
To lead the wild into the ways of the man
Follow me! (La, la-da-la-la-la-la-la)
Eat my flesh, flesh of my flesh!
[Chorus: 2Pac]
Come with me!
Hail Mary, nigga, run quick, see
What do we have here now?
Do you wanna ride or die?
La, la-da-la-la-la-la-la
[Verse 1: 2Pac]
I ain't a killer, but don't push me
Revenge is like the sweetest joy next to gettin' pussy
Picture paragraphs unloaded, wise words bein' quoted
Peeped the weakness in the rap game and sewed it
Bow down, pray to God, hopin' that he's listenin'
Seein' niggas comin' for me through my diamonds when they glistenin'
Now pay attention: bless me please, Father, I'm a ghost
In these killing fields, Hail Mary, catch me if I go
Let's go deep inside the solitary mind of a madman
Screams in the dark, evil lurks, enemies see me flee
Activate my hate, let it break to the flame
Set trip, empty out my clip, never stop to aim
Some say the game is all corrupt and fucked in this shit
Stuck, niggas is lucky if we bust out this shit
Plus, Mama told me never stop until I bust a nut
Fuck the world if they can't adjust, it's just as well, Hail Mary
Come with me!
Hail Mary, nigga, run quick, see
What do we have here now?
Do you wanna ride or die?
La, da-da, da, da, da-da, da
Come with me!
Hail Mary, nigga, run quick, see
What do we have here now?
Do you wanna ride or die?
La, da-da, da, da, da-da, da
[Verse 2: 2Pac]
Penitentiaries is packed with promise-makers
Never realized the precious time that bitch niggas is wastin'
Institutionalized, I live my life a product made to crumble
Much too hardened for a smile, way too crazy to be humble
We ballin', catch me, Father, please
‘Cause I'm fallin' in the liquor store
Pass the Hennessy, I hear you callin', can I get some more?
Bail 'til I reach Hell, I ain't scared
Mama checkin' in my bedroom, I ain't there
I got a head with no screws in it, what can I do?
One life to live, but I got nothin' to lose
Just me and you on a one-way trip to prison, sellin' drugs
We all wrapped up in this livin', life as thugs
To my homeboys in Clinton Max doin' their bid
Raise hell to this real shit and feel this
When they turn out the lights, I'll be there in the dark
Thuggin' eternal through my heart
Now hail Mary, nigga!
Come with me!
Hail Mary, nigga, run quick, see
What do we have here now?
Do you wanna ride or die?
La, da-da, da, da, da-da, da
Come with me!
Hail Mary, nigga, run quick, see
What do we have here now?
Do you wanna ride or die?
La, da-da, da, da, da-da, da
[Verse 3: Kastro]
They got a A-P-B out on my thug family
Since Outlawz run these streets like these scandalous freaks
Our enemies die now, walk around half-dead
Head down, K-blasted off of Hennessy and Thai Chronic
Mixed in, now I'm twisted, blistered and high
Visions of me thug-livin' gettin' me by
Forever live, and I multiply, survived by thugs
When I die they won't cry unless they comin' with slugs
[Verse 4: Young Noble]
Peep the whole scene and whatever's goin' on around me
Brain kind of cloudy, smoked out, feelin' rowdy
Ready to wet the party up
And whoever in that motherfucker, nasty new street Slugger, my heat seeks suckers on the regular
Mashin' in a stolen Black Ac' Integra
Cocked back, sixty seconds 'til the draw, that's when I'm deadin' ya
Feet first, you've got a nice Gat but my heat's worse
From a thug to preachin' church
I gave you love, now you eatin' dirt
Needin' work, and I ain't the nigga to put you on
‘Cause word is bond
When I was broke, I had to hustle 'til dawn
That's when the sun came up, there's only one way up
Hold your head and stay up
To all my niggas, get your pay and weight up
If it's on, then it's on, we rape beat-breaks
Outlawz on a paper chase, can you relate?
To this shit I don't got be the shit I gotta take
Dealin' with fate, hopin' God don't close the gate
If it's on, then it's on, we rape beat-breaks
Outlawz on a paper chase, can you relate?
To this shit I don't got be the shit I gotta take
Dealin' with fate, hopin' God don't close the gate
[Chorus: 2Pac & Prince Ital Joe]
Come with me!
Hail Mary, nigga, run quick, see
What do we have here now?
Do you wanna ride or die?
We've been travelin' on this weary road
Sometimes life can be a heavy load
But we ride, ride it like a bullet
Hail Mary, hail Mary (Hail Mary)
We won't worry, everything will curry
Free like the bird in the tree
We won't worry, everything will curry
Yes, we free like the bird in the tree
We runnin' from the penitentiary
This is the time for we liberty
Hail Mary, hail Mary!

About
“Hail Mary” was posthumously released as the third and final single from 2Pac’s Makaveli album. “Hail Mary” continues the Baroque themes of the album and also features some impressive verses by Pac’s little homies, the Outlawz.
The song captures 2Pac zoning out the violence and negativity surrounding him while trying to have a convo with his Spiritual Mother. The song was reportedly recorded on July 8, 1996, where ‘Pac wrote his verses for this song in 15 minutes and the entire song was made in 30 minutes.
The music video represents ‘Pac (as the buried Makaveli) rising from the dead to answer the prayers of a prison inmate who was wrongfully convicted of a friend’s crime. The prisoner’s prayers are answered in the form of karma.

Producer Hurt-M-Badd told XXL:
I left the studio [after making the beat] and when I came back the next day, everybody from the security guard to the phone lady to the engineer – everybody ran up to me like, “Wait ‘till you hear what this man done laid down over your track.” When I heard it, I didn’t think it was a hit. I was like “Why is Tupac laying this stuff down over my track?” We all had a listening party for the album, and 'Pac was loving every song but when they played that song, he just went though a thing. He threw his hand up in the air with his Hennessy bottle. He threw his hand up in the air like he ruled a nation.
Young Noble told XXL that “Hail Mary” took “maybe 30 minutes”:
It probably took about 15 minutes to write it and about five minutes to lay it. We laid the shit, my verse was already written … And then [‘Pac] came up with the “Hail Mary” shit. 'Pac, he wrote from the heart, so it wasn’t even like writing, it was like talking.
He also stated on an interview with VladTV:
I didn’t like the beat because it was more of a church beat, and, being from New York, we were used to that boom-bap head-knocking beat. That changed when I heard the mix, though.
E.D.I.:
I give Hurt-M-Badd credit for “Hail Mary”. ‘Pac told him, “I need some slow, thuggish shit.” Hurt-M-Badd made “Hail Mary” and when we heard it, 'Pac went crazy. We just did the song in an hour and a half. It wasn’t my favourite record on Makaveli. It reminded me of some down-South record. I didn’t know it was going to be as big a record as it is today.
‘Pac loved Kastro and Noble’s part. How they changed the whole vibe of the song up on some Outlawz shit. But really, I think he just loved what he was saying in it. It’s some real cold shit he’s saying. Because he knew [people] was coming for him.
“Hail Mary” actually only took me 15, 20 minutes to create the whole beat. I just came to work one day, I was feeling good. I was sitting behind the boards. I just touched a few sounds man, and it was like done. And so an engineer came into the room where I worked, and he heard the track – I told him to put the headphones on. He looked at me like “Damn, Hurt! This sounds like a hip-hop funeral, man.” When I do stuff, I don’t be feeling it like everybody else, I guess ‘cause it’s me. He said, “Why don’t you let Tupac hear this?” When Tupac heard it, he really didn’t say nothing but “Gimme that.”
