the fall Lyrics
These words are supposed to be simple
But it seems that's not the case
This page is staring back at me
I'm afraid to put a mark on its face
[Pre-Chorus]
Oh, I'm just trying to introduce you
To this idea that I've grown used to
It's like sharing a dream with someone
Once you say it out loud, it can't be undone
[Chorus]
I jump off and into your arms
But I can't trust the fall
Take my voice, I'm giving it though
I don't feel safe at all
I can't trust the fall
[Verse 2]
It's like waking up in surgery
I can't seem to see right past the lights and I'm
So scared to take a knife to my chest
Let you see the heart that's inside
[Pre-Chorus]
Oh, I'm just trying to introduce you
To this idea that I've grown used to
It's like sharing a dream with someone
Once you say it out loud, it can't be undone
Once you say it out loud, it can't be undone (I can't trust the fall)
I jump off and into your arms
But I can't trust the fall
Take my voice, I'm giving it though
I don't feel safe at all
I jump off and into your arms
But I can't trust the fall
Take my voice, I'm giving it though
I don't feel safe at all
[Bridge]
I can't trust the fall
I can't trust the fall
It's like sharing a dream with someone
Once you say it out loud, it can't be undone
I can't trust the fall
[Interlude]
Ooh-wee-ooh
Ooh-wee-ooh
Ooh-wee-ooh
I can't trust the fall
[Chorus]
I jump off and into your arms
But I can't trust the fall (I can't trust the fall)
Take my voice, I'm giving it though
I don't feel safe at all (Don't feel safe at all)
I jump off and into your arms
But I can't trust the fall
Take my voice, I'm giving it though (I can't trust the fall)
I don't feel safe at all
It's like sharing a dream with someone
Once you say it out loud, it can't be undone
I can't trust the fall
About
Written November 18, 2015 during the “fifty songs challenge” at Long Beach, California, “the fall” is the first song released by the half•alive trio, and also the first track of three on their debut EP 3.
The lead singer, Josh Taylor has explained:
The first song we released after two years of working on this project was “The Fall,” which is talking about how hard it is to release something I have spent so much time on and know so well and then releasing it to people I don’t know and can judge it within a few seconds of listening to it.

Find answers to frequently asked questions about the song and explore its deeper meaning
‘The Fall’ was written about how difficult it is for us to write songs and release them to people we don’t know. But then someone can take that sentiment as ’it’s really hard for me to release whatever it is I’m holding inside me’, which is the complete power of music.
