I Second That Emotion Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Maybe you want to give me kisses sweet
But only for one night with no repeat
Maybe you'll go away and never call
And a taste of honey is worse than none at all

[Chorus]
Oh, little girl
In that case, I don't want no part
I do believe that would only break my heart
So if you feel like loving me, if you've got that notion
I second that emotion
So if you feel like giving me a life time of devotion
I second that emotion

[Verse 2]
Maybe you think that love will tie you down
And you don't seem to like to hang around
Or maybe you think that love was made for fools
So it makes you wise to break the rules

[Chorus]
Oh, oh
In that case, I don't want no part
I do believe that would only break my heart
So if you feel like loving me, if you've got that notion
I second that emotion
So if you feel like giving me a life time of devotion
I second that emotion
Oh
Oh, oh, oh
[Bridge]
I second that emotion
I second that emotion

[Chorus]
Ah, ah, little girl
In that case, I don't want no part
I do believe that would only break my heart
So if you feel like loving me, if you've got that notion
I second that emotion
So if you feel like giving me a life time of devotion
I second that emotion
I second that emotion
I second that emotion
I second that emotion

About

Genius Annotation

Japan’s final single for Hansa records, “I Second That Emotion” is a cover of the Smokey Robinson and Al Cleveland song. The track was not the band’s only foray into American Soul music, as their next album would include a cover of Marvin Gaye’s “Ain’t That Peculiar”, but both tracks are far more electronic than their original versions. Although failing to chart during its original 1980 release, it would end up breaking into the UK top 10 in 1982.
