Change Lyrics
Time of our lives, it's easy to see
We were just gettin' by, but we were complete
It hasn't been long that I've been away
I don't know why everything's changed
[Chorus]
'Cause inside we're still the kings of the Friday nights
Silver streets and the neon signs
Everything's changed outside, sometimes I wonder why
If you need, you can call on me, I'll be the friend you need
'Cause everything's changed outside, but I feel the same inside
[Verse 2]
The kids are alright, that used to be me
Always losin' our minds out on the street
A trip down memory lane, houses all look the same
There's different names on the gates and all the people have changed
Oh, it's such a shame, nothing stays the same
[Chorus]
'Cause inside we're still the kings of the Friday nights
Silver streets and the neon signs
Everything's changed outside, sometimes I wonder why
If you need, you can call on me, I'll be the friend you need
'Cause everything's changed outside, but I feel the same inside
When we gonna realise we don't get another life?
Always overanalyse, what's the point?
I know it'll be alright
We've still got the rest of our lives
Now, it's time to realise we don't get another life
Always overanalyse, what's the point?
I know it'll be alright
'Cause we're all the same inside
[Chorus]
We're still the kings of the Friday nights
Silver streets and the neon signs
Everything's changed outside, sometimes I wonder why
If you need, you can call on me, I'll be the friend you need
'Cause everything's changed outside, but I feel the same inside
[Instrumental ]
[Outro]
Now, it's time to realise we don't get another life
Always overanalyse, what's the point?
I know it'll be alright
'Cause we're all the same inside
About
“Change” was first performed at The Away From Home Festival 2021, where Louis also announced that it would be included in his sophomore album alongside another then unreleased song titled “Copy of a Copy of a Copy”, but neither made the cut. In late May 2023, the song was officially available on all streaming platforms, as part of Faith In The Future (Bonus Edition), which was previously available temporarily on Tomlinson’s digital store in November 2022.

I’m sure other songwriters can relate to this, I’ve got this funny old songs, and especially songs that didn’t make the cut for something. So, “Changes” was in-between Walls and Faith in The Future, I think I wrote this song 3 or 4 months after releasing the first record. It just feels like a moment in time. It’s not that I don’t think it’s good enough for [Faith in The Future], because I do, but it also feels like a moment in time, it feels less appropriate to be on that album. It almost acted as like a transitional song between album one and two.
