Beans Lyrics

[Intro]
I don't like you and I'm gonna beat you up!
No! No! No, I'm telling, nrrgh, I'm telling my mom
Nyah…

[Verse 1]
Beans, beans, beans
Japhy had some beans
He was happy, happy, happy
That he ate some beans

[Verse 2]
Sitting naked, naked, naked
Sitting cross-legged
Naked, naked, naked
And he was happy, happy, happy
That he ate some beans

[Verse 3]
Wine, wine, wine
Japhy had some wine
He was happy, happy, happy
That he ate some wine

[Outro]
Beans, beans, beans
Japhy ate some beans
And he drank some wine
And he was happy, happy, happy
That he drank some beans!

About

Genius Annotation

“Beans” was found on a 4-track home cassette dated between 1986 and 1988.

A few different versions of this song exist, but the most famous is probably the very squeaky version that was recorded and then pitch-shifted.

Recorded at Cobain’s residence at the time, the song was initially supposed to appear on Nirvana’s debut album, Bleach. However, Sub Pop refused to put the song on the record and it was later released on With the Lights Out.

Can you share a link to another version? I can only find the pitch-shifted one.
Genius Answer

The official version is the pitch shifted one. I don’t know whether the non-pitch shifted one is available, but I cannot find it anywhere. There are some “non pitch shifted” links on youtube, but they seem to be just “undoing” the original pitch shift.
