Big Boy Lyrics

[Intro: Starrah]
Uh-huh, uh-huh

[Verse 1: Normani & Starrah]
Kickin' and coolin', bad lil' bitch
Told 'em stick it and move it, thicker than smoothies
Only ever see this type of shit in the movies
Only ever see this type of shit once in your life
So don't get caught up on it
Cornbread fed, boy, I'm brought up on it
They ain't really want it 'til they saw us on it
(This some different shit, they ain't on this)
Now they caught up on it
I don't really blame him

[Pre-Chorus: Normani]
'Cause that ass on that bad bitch is fat as a bitch
Bling-bling-blaow, he like, "What's that on your wrist?"
Bling-bling-blaow, that's all them platinum hits
Bling-bling-blaow, that's all that Billboard shit

[Chorus: Normani, Normani & Starrah]
Just that big boy, used to bump that André and that Big Boi
Small change, turn them small pieces into big boys
Blicky make a nigga sit the fuck up like a big boy
Small change, turn them small piecеs into big boys
Blicky make a nigga sit the fuck up like a big boy
Small changе, turn them small pieces into big boys
Blicky make a nigga sit the fuck up like a big boy
Small change, turn them small pieces into big boys
[Verse 2: Normani & Starrah]
Roll up on it (Yeah)
Pimpin' like C, I was brought up on it (Yes, sir)
Niggas mad at me, throwin' salt up on it (Hatin' ass nigga)
Pussy good, but please don't get caught up on it (Haha, nah)
I don't really blame him

[Pre-Chorus: Normani, Normani & Starrah]
'Cause that ass on that bad bitch is fat as a bitch
Bling-bling-blaow, he like, "What's that on your wrist?"
Bling-bling-blaow, that's all them platinum hits
Bling-bling-blaow, that's all that Billboard shit

[Chorus: Normani, Normani & Starrah]
Just that big boy, used to bump that André and that Big Boi
Small change, turn them small pieces into big boys
Blicky make a nigga sit the fuck up like a big boy
Small change, turn them small pieces into big boys
Blicky make a nigga sit the fuck up like a big boy
Small change, turn them small pieces into big boys
Blicky make a nigga sit the fuck up like a big boy

[Verse 3: Starrah]
Mm, shawty know she thicker than a Snicker
Messin' up that ego with that liquor (Brrr)
Her nigga be callin', she don't pick up (Brrr)

I don't really blame her
[Pre-Chorus: Starrah, Starrah & Normani, Normani]

Genius Annotation

“Big Boy” is the opening song on Normani’s Dopamine. The track is a homage to Normani’s Southern roots and even references two of the biggest influences in Southern Hip-Hop, Pimp C and Big Boi.

In late March 2024, a snippet of the song got leaked. A month later, Normani went on Instagram Live to play a longer snippet of the song confirming it would be on her debut album. That same month, The Cut confirmed the title, describing the song in an interview:

Big Boy scans like a love letter to the South with its cool bass line, leaping horns, and nods to Pimp C.

What did Normani say about "Big Boy"?
Genius Answer

I remember writing “Big Boy” at the beginning of the pandemic, and wanting to make something that embodies movement and energy. Being a dancer was my first passion and first love, so any time I go into the studio, I think about where I’m going to end up performing it: at an awards show, at the Super Bowl half-time show? I think really big. I wanted something that felt aggressive and assertive and bold and dominant and just captured the confidence that I feel like I found as a woman, but also as an artist. Sometimes even in those moments where you don’t feel the most confident, you have to go in and create the record that you need personally to feel good.
