Embryo – BBC Radio Session, 16 July 1970
Track 77 on The Early Years 1965-1972
Embryo – BBC Radio Session, 16 July 1970 Lyrics
[Verse 1]
All this love, is all I am
A ball is all I am
I'm so new compared to you
And I am very small
[Chorus]
Warm glow, moon gloom
Always need a little more room
Waiting here seems like years
I will see the sunshine show
[Verse 2]
All around I hear strange sounds
Come drifting round my ears
Dark the light and long the night
I feel my dawn is near
[Chorus]
Warm glow, moon gloom
Always need a little more room
Waiting here seems like years
I will see the sunshine show
[6 minute guitar outro]
All this love, is all I am
A ball is all I am
I'm so new compared to you
And I am very small
[Chorus]
Warm glow, moon gloom
Always need a little more room
Waiting here seems like years
I will see the sunshine show
[Verse 2]
All around I hear strange sounds
Come drifting round my ears
Dark the light and long the night
I feel my dawn is near
[Chorus]
Warm glow, moon gloom
Always need a little more room
Waiting here seems like years
I will see the sunshine show
[6 minute guitar outro]
About
Genius Annotation
Much more representative of how the song was performed live over the years 1970 and 1971, this rendition of “Embryo” recorded as a BBC broadcast shows a lengthier, much more improvised version of the song that was published in an unfinished state on the Harves Records sampler Picnic – A Breath Of Fresh Air in 1970.
Another significant change from the original studio recording is that Richard Wright now shares the lead vocals with David Gilmour, instead of just providing backing vocals.
Due to the amount of improvisation, it’s safe to assume the writing credit for all subsequent versions of the song should go to all four band members.
