On and On Lyrics
Oh, oh
Mm, mm
[Verse 1]
I'm not goin' home
Tell my mama don't wait up for me
I won't check my phone, there's no need
I just wish we could press rewind, so
[Pre-Chorus]
Let's take it back in time
Party like it's '95
I just wanna dance all night (Yeah)
You know that I like it like that
Let's take it back in time
When the parties were like '95
I just wanna dance all night (Yeah)
Tell them, "Turn the lights out"
[Chorus]
Let the party go on all night long
We can go on, on and on
Let's make the party go on all night long
We can go on, on and on
On and—
I'm not goin' home
'Cause I swear thе DJ's playin' all of these songs for me
You gotta drag mе off the floor, all night
'Cause that's the only way you'll get me to leave, so
[Pre-Chorus]
Let's take it back in time (Oh, yeah)
Party like it's '95 (Oh, yeah)
I just wanna dance all night (Yeah)
You know that I like it like that
Let's take it back in time (In time)
When the parties were like '95 (Five)
I just wanna dance all night (Yeah)
Tell them, "Turn the lights out"
[Chorus]
Let the party go on all night long
We can go on, on and on
Let's make the party go on all night long
We can go on, on and on
Let's make the party go on all night long
We can go on, on and on
Let's make the party go on all night long (Mm-mm)
We can go on, on and on
On and—

This was [an initial] version of my sound, before ‘Water’ and everything. I made this with Corey Marlon Lindsay-Keay in South Africa. We were supposed to go out, and we didn’t end up going out, so I was dressed up in a whole outfit in the studio session, and he was producing. I love the song so much because it’s so nostalgic but new. I love that it feels like old-school R&B. I love that it has hints of Aaliyah’s influence, but it’s new, and fresh, and African-all things that are Tyla. The messaging is not so serious—it’s literally about not wanting a party to end.
