About Violetta Barrena

Violetta Barrena (real name: Violeta Barreña-Witschi, and aka. Violeta Vicci) is a violinist and vocalist born in Barcelona. She is also a member of the UK indie, psychedelic band TTRRUUCES, founded in 2019 by Natalie Findlay and Jules Appollinaire.

She is known for collaborating with artists such as Thom Yorke, Jonny Greenwood, Elbow, Liam Gallagher, Fontaines DC, Declan McKenna, Baxter Dury, Sophie Ellis Bextor, Guy Garvey, Celine Dion, Robbie Williams, Ben Howard, One Eskimo, Eliza Doolittle, Tom Odell, and Pink.

She started taking violin lessons at four years old and made her concerto debut at fourteen, before moving to London to train at the Royal Academy of Music.

She regularly plays with orchestras such as the LCO, ESO, the KVO and on occasions leads ensembles such as Europa Musicale, Vox Vanguard Orchestra and the WHO, an orchestra with charitable aims.
She is part of the chamber duet “Duo Diez” with guitarist Dimitris Dekavallas and frequently collaborates with pianist Ottavia Maria Maceratini.

She has performed in many prestigious venues, including The Barbican, The Royal Festival Hall, The Royal Albert Hall, LSO St. Lukes, St. John’s Smith Square and St. Martin in the Fields as well as many festivals and venues around the UK and abroad including Australia, Oman, Mexico, France, Chile, Germany, Belgium, Spain, Switzerland and Italy.

Violeta also has her own charitable initiative – Music Beyond Frontiers – which she started after a few years of outreach work with Live Music Now and The Concordia Foundation.
