  • Halimatu Sadia Mohammed is an ALX Pathway learner who also volunteers for an organization that empowers mothers who weren't able to complete their formal education to learn topics like Mathematics, English and Islamic Studies. Tell us a bit about your background. Growing up in Ghana, I believed I could fix anything. If the TV acted up, I’d troubleshoot like a pro. Unplugging, rebooting, running diagnostics. If nothing worked, I’d blame “the network” because failure was never on me. That problem-solving mindset led me to software engineering. I love breaking down complex issues, experimenting with solutions, and making things work just like I did with our TV (well, most of the time). What drew you to ALX? I always felt destined for more but didn’t know where to start. ALX was the missing piece—a launchpad for growth. Beyond coding, it emphasized leadership, problem-solving, and community. It’s a space for ambitious minds shaping Africa’s tech future, and I knew I had to be part of it. If you could collaborate with any expert in your field, who would it be? I’d love to work with Abdigani Diriye, an AI researcher passionate about financial inclusion and healthcare. Together, we’d build an adaptive learning AI for African students, ensuring personalized education no matter where they are. Maybe it could even explain math in a way that doesn’t leave people questioning their life choices! If you had a professional side gig, what would it be? I’d create fun coding challenges that make learning feel like solving puzzles, maybe even a mini-game where you "debug" real-life situations like fixing internet issues. Coding is about problem-solving, and I’d love to make it more approachable. What's your ultimate comfort food? Hot jollof rice especially when it rains. Something about the cozy vibe and good food just makes it perfect. If you could instantly master any subject, what would it be? Mathematics. It’s the backbone of so many fields, and mastering it would take my problem-solving skills to the next level. No more pretending to understand when numbers start turning into letters! • While we recognize the advantages of online learning, we can’t deny the power of in-person peer collaboration. Our hubs were designed to be vibrant spaces where our community members can connect, experience events, exchange ideas, and build meaningful networks. Whether you’re brainstorming with peers, finding your next big opportunity, or simply soaking in the energy of like-minded thinkers, our hubs are where growth happens. With that said, we’re sad to say goodbye to the East Legon hub and excited to announce that our brand new hub at One Airport Square is officially open 💪 #alxghana

“I landed a job in tech without a university degree, and I’m here to tell you that your aspirations are not impossible. Hello, I’m Manny and I developed an interest in working with computers at a young age and, in 2015, decided to learn game programming. Between 2015 and 2019, I worked on many small games, most of which I didn’t share because they remained unfinished. Around 2021, I revisited my basics but encountered a skill ceiling I couldn’t overcome, no matter how hard I tried. In 2023, my brother sent me a link to register for the ALX Software Engineering program. Through this program, I developed a growth mindset that enables me to tackle any technical challenge. I also learned to break through the ceiling that had been holding me back. By 2024, just six months after graduating, I secured an internship as a backend developer. Through ALX, I’ve developed the ability to approach problems—whether new or old—from multiple perspectives. I’ve also gained confidence in my technical skills and understanding of key concepts and have been working on challenging projects that deal concurrency, networking and stream handling. I’m forever grateful for the 15 months I spent in the software engineering program and for how much I’ve grown.” Connect with Manny Quansah 🚀
