About us

Our mandate is to develop and implement projects and activities that will promote resource efficiency and cleaner production activities in areas of energy, water and raw-material efficiency and waste management practices in industries that would result in reduced manufacturing cost, lowered pollution and improved health and safety performance.We offer trainings in Industrial Symbiosis, Sustainable Recycling Industries,Biogas Technology Development,E-waste Management etc. The Centre is located in Community 22 on the Afariwaa road in Tema. It is hosted by the Environmental Protection Agency of the Ministry of Environment, Science Technology and Innovation (MESTI). The Centre is also a member of the global RECPnet. It works in collaboration with UNIDO, UNEP and other international partners.

  • A workshop to train Auditors of Used Lead Acid Battery (ULAB) Recyclers was organized for officers of the EPA and representatives from other regulatory agencies from the 6th-8th of February, 2024 at 9:00 am at the Electricity Company of Ghana Training School in Community 10, Tema. The objective was to equip regulators to effectively implement the Technical Guidelines for Environmentally Sound Management of Used Lead Acid Batteries in Ghana. This was done by, the GHANA NATIONAL CLEANER PRODUCTION CENTRE (GNCPC) of the Environmental Protection Agency {EPA), Mountain Research Institute (MRI) , the Institute for Material Science and Technology (EMPA) and Oeko-Institut e.V. in collaboration with World Resources Forum (WRF) with funding from the @State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) is implementing the Sustainable Recycling Industries Project II (SRI II), to promote sustainable e-waste recycling in Ghana. In attendance were Saeed Forocco (Head of EPA MID Department) , Sally Bineh (Director for Regional Office EPA) , Magdalene Wüst (Deputy Head of Cooperation-Embassy of Swizerland in Ghana) and Charlotte Esenam Afudego (Private Sector Development Trade Specialist-Embassy of Swizerland in Ghana).
